Milan Records has released the official soundtrack album for the animated feature The Most Precious of Cargoes (La plus précieuse des marchandises). The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Queen, Godzilla) and performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music services), where you can also check out the track list. ‘Final Cut’ (‘Coupez!’) Soundtrack Album Details
Rambling Records will release a soundtrack album for the French horror comedy Final Cut (Coupez!). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Queen, Godzilla, The King’s Speech). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, July 15 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is coming out in Japan later in July. Final Cut is written and directed by Michel Hazanavicius and stars Romain Duris, Bérénice Bejo, Grégory Gadebois, Matilda Lutz, Finnegan Oldfield and Raphaël Quenard.

Composer Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Queen) is set to reteam with director Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist, OSS 117) on the upcoming animated feature The Most Precious of Cargos. The film, which marks the director’s first animation project, is based on the bestselling book by Jean-Claude Grumberg and will feature the voice talent of Gérard Depardieu, Dominique Blanc and Denys Podalydès.
Alexandre Desplat Scoring Michel Hazanavicius’ ‘Final Cut’
Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Queen, The King’s Speech) has been tapped to score the upcoming French horror comedy Final Cut (Z (comme Z)). The film is written and directed by Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist, OSS 117) and stars Romain Duris, Bérénice Bejo, Grégory Gadebois, Finnegan Oldfield, Matilda Lutz and Raphaël Quenard. The movie is based on Shinichiro Ueda’s Japanese feature One Cut of the Dead and follows an abusive director of a low-budget zombie horror as he tries to inject energy and excitement into the project by unlocking a real-life ancient zombie curse.
‘The Lost Prince’ Soundtrack Details
HOWE Records will release a soundtrack album for the French family fantasy adventure The Lost Prince (Le prince oublié). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silence of the Lambs, The Aviator, The Departed, Spotlight). Also included is the original song Tell Me a Story written by the composer and performed by Natalie Prass, as well as the song Papa performed by Fantine. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, February 12 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon. The Lost Prince is directed by Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist) and stars Omar Sy, François Damiens and Bérénice Bejo. The movie revolves around a devoted single father who takes his daughter into “Storyland”, a fantasy film studio where their extraordinary fairytale adventures come to life.
Ludovic Bource on ‘The Artist’
David Poland has published a 40-minutes video interview with composer Ludovic Bource in his DP/30 series. During the interview, Bource talks in detail about his work and inspirations for Michel Hazanavicius’ silent film The Artist starring Jean Dujardin, Berenice Bejo, John Goodman, James Cromwell, Missi Pyle and Penelope Ann Miller. The composer also addresses Kim Novak’s recent comments about the use of Bernard Herrmann’s score for Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo in the movie and talks about his musical background, as well as his previous collaboration with Hazanavicius on the OSS 117 movie series. Bource has already won several awards for The Artist, including the Broadcast Film Critics Association Movie Award and European Film Award. Bource is also nominated for a Golden Globe and will be attending the awards ceremony tonight in Beverly Hills. The soundtrack for The Artist is available on Sony Classical. Ludovic Bource Scoring ‘The Artist’
Over the last couple of days, the romance The Artist has been getting a lot of attention at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Likewise, the film’s music composed by French composer Ludovic Bource has been receiving a lot of praise from critics and might be an early contender for the upcoming Awards season. The black-and-white silent film takes place in 1927 Hollywood and focuses on a silent movie star whose career seems about to be ended because of the arrival of the talkies. At the same time, a pretty young extra sees the new format as an opportunity to launch her star. The movie stars Jean Dujardin, Berenice Bejo, John Goodman, James Cromwell, Missi Pyle and Penelope Ann Miller.
