La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1953 sci-fi classic The War of the Worlds directed by Byron Haskin and starring Gene Barry and Ann Robinson. The album features the expanded and remastered original score from the Paramount Pictures release composed by Leith Stevens (The Wild One, Destination Moon, Lost in Space, The Time Tunnel, The Night of the Grizzly). Also included is the composer’s score from 1951’s When Worlds Collide directed by Rudolph Maté and starring Richard Derr, Barbara Rush, Peter Hansen & John Hoyt. The film is directed by Lee Tamahori (Die Another Day, The Edge) and stars Guy Pearce, Tioreore Ngatai-Melbourne, Jacqueline McKenzie, Antonio Te Maioha and Lawrence Makoare. The movie tells the story of a newly arrived preacher in a colonial town in early 19th Century New Zealand who finds himself at the center of a long-standing battle between two Māori tribes. Music Box Records has announced a soundtrack album for the French psychological thriller Visions. The album features the film’s original music composed by Philippe Rombi (Swimming Pool, Potiche, Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion, In the House, War of the Buttons, Angel). The soundtrack is expected to be released digitally this Wednesday, September 6 (click here to stream/download). Toho has confirmed today that Naoki Sato (Rurouni Kenshin, Pretty Cure, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Masquerade Night, X, Blood-C) is reuniting with director Takashi Yamazaki to score the upcoming Japanese monster movie Godzilla Minus One. The film is written and directed by Yamazaki (Lupin III: The First) and stars Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Sakura Ando, Hidetaka Yoshioka and Kuranosuke Sasaki. Premiering tomorrow, September 4, is the Comedy Central original movie Office Race co-written and directed by Jared Lapidus and starring Beck Bennett, Joel McHale, Kelsey Grammer, Erinn Hayes, Kylie Bunbury, J.B. Smoove and Alyson Hannigan. Academy Award-nominated and Grammy-Award winning singer/songwriter Bryan Adams has contributed two original songs to the film. Premiering on Wednesday, September 6, is the Netflix documentary series Predators executive produced by Wendy Darke & Vanessa Coates and narrated by Tom Hard about a group of cheetahs, polar bears and more of the planet’s most powerful hunters as they fight against the odds to survive. The show’s original music is composed by Nainita Desai (For Sama, The Deepest Breath, Crossfire, The Tower, Funny Woman, The Reason I Jump). Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the action thriller The Equalizer 3 directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning, Eugenio Mastrandrea and David Denman. The film’s original music is composed by Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Emancipation, The Affair, Wonder, Ray Donovan, The Good Shepherd). Opening in around 400 theaters today is the thriller The Good Mother directed by Miles Joris-Peyrafitte (Dreamland, As You Are) and starring Hilary Swank, Olivia Cooke, Dilone, Jack Reynor and Hopper Penn. Joris-Peyrafitte has also composed the film’s original music with Erick Slick (of the rock band Dr. Dog). No soundtrack album has been announced.
