Intrada Records will release a soundtrack album for the ABC hit drama Revenge. The album features selections from the show’s original score from the first two seasons composed by iZLER (Shameless, Natural Selection) who records his music weekly with a live orchestra. Michael Suby to Score The CW’s ‘The Originals’

Michael Suby is set to score the upcoming CW series The Originals. The show created by Julie Plec is a spin-off of the network’s hit series The Vampire Diaries and stars Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Claire Holt, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Daniella Pineda, Leah Pipes and Danielle Campbellas. The drama follows the Original family, the first existing vampires in the world that was first seen in the second season. Plec is executive producing the Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios production with Leslie Morgenstein (Gossip Girl) and Gina Girolamo (The Lying Game). Suby whose previous credits include the feature The Butterfly Effect and ABC Family’s Kyle XY and Pretty Little Liars has scored all episodes of The Vampire Diaries and will also return to score the show’s fifth season this fall. Stephen Warbeck to Score ‘Keeping Rosy’

Stephen Warbeck is scoring the upcoming psychological thriller Keeping Rosy. The film marks the directorial feature debut of commercials director Steve Reeves and stars Maxine Peake, Blake Harrison and Christine Bottomley. The movie follows a female advertising executive whose life disintegrates after a series of unfortunate events. Reeves has co-written the screenplay with Mike Oughton. Richard Holmes (Waking Ned Devine, Eden Lake, Resistance) and Isabelle Georgeaux are producing the Air Productions and Redemption Films production. Warbeck has previously scored the British comedy Jadoo for the producers. Keeping Rosy is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in 2014. Read the rest of this entry »
‘Luther’ Soundtrack Announced

Silva Screen Records has announced a soundtrack release for the BBC series Luther. The album features selections from the show’s original score of the first three seasons composed by Paul Englishby (An Education, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day), as well as songs featured in the series by artists including Massive Attack, Nina Simone, Emiliana Torrini, Marilyn Manson, The Heavy, Kasabian and Suede. The soundtrack will be released overseas on September 9, 2013. No word yet on a domestic release. Luther created by Neil Cross and executive produced by Phillippa Giles stars Idris Elba as near-genius detective John Luther. The BBC and BBC America co-production premiered in 2010. Paul Grabowsky Scoring ‘Words and Pictures’

Paul Grabowsky has reteamed with director Fred Schepisi (The Russia House, Roxanne, Six Degrees of Separation) to score the director’s upcoming romantic comedy drama Words and Pictures. The film starring Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche takes place at an insular New England prep school and follows an English teacher who challenges the school’s art teacher to a “war” between words and pictures and in the process, sparks an unlikely romance. Gerald DiPego (Phenomenon, The Forgotten, Message in a Bottle) has written the screenplay and is also producing the Latitude Productions and Lascaux Films production with Schepisi and Curtis Burch. Grabowsky and Schepisi have previously collaborated on such films as Last Orders, It Runs in the Family, Empire Falls and The Eye of the Storm. Words and Pictures is set to premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the drama The Butler starring Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, John Cusack, Jane Fonda, Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, James Marsden, David Oyelowo, Vanessa Redgrave, Alan Rickman, Liev Schreiber and Robin Williams. The film’s original music is composed by Rodrigo Leão (Lisbon Story). Verve International has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year. Also opening wide is the superhero action comedy sequel Kick-Ass 2 directed by Jeff Wadlow and starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Jim Carrey, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Donald Faison, Clark Duke, John Leguizamo and Morris Chestnut. ‘About Time’ Soundtrack Details

Decca Records will release a soundtrack album for the upcoming romantic comedy About Time. The album features the songs from the film, including the original song How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding, as well as tracks by Ben Folds, The Cure, Amy Winehouse, Paul Buchanan, The Killers, T.A.T.U. and Arvo Pärt. Also included is a cue from the film’s original score composed by Nick Laird-Clowes. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on September 2, 2013 and in the U.S. on October 28, 2013. Dave Porter to Score Fox’s ‘Wayward Pines’

Dave Porter has been hired to score the upcoming event series Wayward Pines. The show is created by Chad Hodge (The Playboy Club, Runaway) and stars Matt Dillon, Shannyn Sossamon, Terrence Howard, Carla Gugino, Juliette Lewis, Toby Jones and Melissa Leo. The series follows a Secret Service agent Ethan Burke who arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, Idaho, on a mission to find two missing federal agents. M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs) is directing the pilot episode and is also executive producing the project with Hodge, Donald De Line (The Italian Job, Green Lantern) and Ashwin Rajan. ‘Adore’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has revealed the details of the soundtrack album for the drama Adore. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Christopher Gordon (Master and Commander, Daybreakers). Also included is additional music by Antony Partos (Animal Kingdom). The soundtrack will be released on September 24, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Adore is directed by Anne Fontaine (Coco Before Chanel) and stars Naomi Watts and Robin Wright as two lifelong friends whose deep friendship is tested when they engage in affairs with each other’s sons. The drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival under the title Two Mothers and has been picked up by Exclusive Media for a domestic release in select theaters and on VOD on September 6.
