The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the spy thriller The 355 co-written and directed by Simon Kinberg and starring Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Lupita Nyong’o, Diane Kruger, Bingbing Fan, Édgar Ramirez and Sebastian Stan. The film’s original music is composed by Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Deadpool, Godzilla vs. Kong, Alita: Battle Angel, Divergent, Black Mass). No word on a soundtrack release. Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD is the Australian comedy drama June Again written and directed by JJ Winlove and starring Noni Hazlehurst, Claudia Karvan and Stephen Curry. Christopher Gordon (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, On the Beach, Daybreakers, Moby Dick, Crawl, Adore) has composed the film’s original music. The composer has released a soundtrack album featuring his score last spring when the movie opened in Australia. Opening in over 3000 theaters is the sci-fi action film Riddick written and directed by David Twohy and starring Vin Diesel, Karl Urban, Jodi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, Bokeem Woodbine, Raoul Trujillo and Nolan Gerard Funk. The film’s music is composed by Graeme Revell (Pineapple Express, From Dusk Till Dawn, Sin City) who has previoulsy scored the other films in the Riddick trilogy, Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick.
