The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-nominated composer Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier SpyThe Constant GardenerThe Kite Runner). The soundtrack will be released on May 16, 2014 by Quartet Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below. The Two Faces of January is directed by Hossein Amini (screenwriter of Drive) and stars Viggo Mortensen, Kirsten Dunst and Oscar Isaac. The movie based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith (The Talented Mr. Ripley) follows a con artist, his wife and a stranger who try to flee a foreign country after one of them is caught up in the murder of a police officer. ping-pong-summerJ-2 Music will release a soundtrack album for the indie coming-of-age comedy Ping Pong Summer. The album features the songs from the film by artists including The Fat Boys, Mary Jane Girls, New Edition, Whodini, Midnight Star and Angelo Jannotti. Also included is a suite from the film’s original score composed by Michael Montes. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 3, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Ping Pong Summer is written and directed by Michael Tully and stars Susan Sarandon, Marcello Conte, Judah Friedlander, John Hannah, Lea Thompson, Amy Sedaris, Robert Longstreet. The movie is set in 1985 and follows 13-year-old Rad Miracle as he attempts to live up to his name by becoming a master breakdancer, ping pong player and ladies man all before the end of summer break. The comedy premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Gravitas Ventures for a release in theaters and on VOD on June 6. penny-dreadfulPremiering tonight on Showtime is the horror drama Penny Dreadful created by John Logan, executive produced by Sam Mendes & Pippa Harris and starring Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Harry Treadaway, Billie Piper and Danny Sapani. The show’s original score is composed by Golden Globe nominee Abel Korzeniowski (A Single Man, W.E., Romeo & Juliet). petals-on-the-windMario Grigorov is composing the score for the upcoming Lifetime original movie Petals on the Wind. The film is a sequel to Flowers in the Attic, which also featured a score by the composer, and stars Heather Graham, Ellen Burstyn and Dylan Bruce who will reprise their roles from the original. They are joined by Rose McIver, Wyatt Nash, Bailey Buntain and Will Kemp. The drama is set ten years after the first film and follows the family as they attempt to put their sordid past behind them, but tragedy strikes again, forcing Cathy to confront her grandmother and seek revenge on her mother. Merideth Finn & Michele Weiss are executive producing the project with Charles W. William Olvis Dies at 56

william-olvisWilliam Olvis has passed away at age 56. The composer was best known for his theme and his score for 116 episodes of the hit drama Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. His best known feature scoring credit was the 1993 crime thriller Red Rock West directed by John Dahl and starring Nicolas Cage & Dennis Hopper. Olvis’ other credits include Dahl’s Kill Me Again starring Val Kilmer, the comedy drama 29th Street, the comedy Steal Big Steal Little starring Andy Garcia and the ABC drama series Life Goes On. He received four ASCAP Awards for Most Performed Underscore between 1995 and 1999. The composer died of throat cancer at his home in Malibu. Read the rest of this entry »

rosemarys-babyAntoni Komasa-Lazarkiewicz has composed the original music for the NBC mini-series Rosemary’s Baby. The four-hour adaptation is based on the best-selling novel by Ira Levin and stars Zoe Saldana, Patrick J. Adams, Jason Isaacs and Carole Bouquet. The mini-series directed by Agnieszka Holland follows a young married couple who escapes New York and moves into a Paris apartment with a haunted past and an immeasurable price. James Wong (Final DestinationThe One) and Scott Abbott (Queen of the Damned) have adapted the material for television. Joshua D. Maurer (The Hoax), Alixandre Witlin and David A. The film stars Aaron Eckhart, Carice van Houten, Catalina Sandino Moreno and David Mazouz. The movie follows an unconventional exorcist who taps into the subconscious of a nine-year old boy who is possessed by a powerful, ancient demon. Ronnie Christensen (Passengers, Dark Tide) has written the screenplay. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) is producing the project through his Blumhouse production company. imageJohn Debney has signed on to score the upcoming mini-series Houdini. The two-parter stars Adrian Brody as Harry Houdini and Kristen Connolly as his wife Bess. The four-hour series follows the magician as be finds fame, engages in espionage, battles spiritualists and encounters several U.S. presidents, as well as such personalities as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Grigori Rasputin. Uli Edel (The Baader Meinhof Complex) is directing the A + E Studios and Lionsgate Television production and Gerald W. Abrams (Nuremberg) and Andras Hamori (eXistenZ, Cheri) are executive producing the project. Nicolas Meyer (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Sommersby, Volunteers) has written the script. Debney has previously scored the mini-series Hatfields & McCoys and last year’s Bonnie & Clyde for A+E/History.

imageHamburger Records will release a soundtrack album for the biographical drama Grace of Monaco. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christopher Gunning who previously collaborated with the movie’s director Olivier Dahan on La Vie en Rose. Also included are classical pieces by Erik Satie, Jean Sibelius and more. Guillaume Roussel (3 Days to Kill) has composed additional music for the film. The soundtrack will be releasd digitally on May 12, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Grace of Monaco stars Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly and Tim Roth as her husband, Prince Rainier III. Frank Langella, Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Derek Jacobi and Milo Ventimiglia are co-starring in the movie, which follows the actress as she is being called upon to save Monaco from a crisis over its standing as a tax haven after it was given six months to reform the nation’s tax laws.
