Film Fest Gent has announced the new album Philip Glass – Music for Film featuring music by the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at last year’s World Soundtrack Awards, including all-new studio recordings of selected scores by the composer performed by the Brussels Philharmonic and conducted by the festival’s music director Dirk Brossé. Titles include Glass’ Academy Award-winning scores from Martin Scorsese’s Kundun, Stephen Daldry’s The Hours and Richard Eyre’s Notes on a Scandal, as well as Godfrey Reggio’s Koyaanisqatsi, its second sequel Naqoyqatsi, Errol Morris’s The Fog of War, Woody Allen’s Cassandra’s Dream, Neil Burger’s The Illusionist and Paul Schrader’s Mishima. Also included are over half an hour of previously unreleased music, including selections from David Koepp’s Secret Window, D.J. Caruso’s Taking Lives, the 9/11 documentary Rebirth, the complete score for John Irvin’s Hamburger Hill, a suite from his score for Scott Hick’s No Reservations, two orchestral pieces written for Peter Weir’s The Truman Show, the original complete ending of the piano duet from Park Chan-wook’s Stoker and a new arrangement of Helen’s Theme from Bernard Rose’s Candyman.

Philip Glass to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at 25th World Soundtrack Awards
Philip Glass will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the film music concert Minimalism in Motion: Glass, Nyman and Beyond, which will close Film Fest Gent’s Film Music Days 2025 and the 25th World Soundtrack Awards. During the concert, a selection of the composer’s work will be performed by the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé who personally presented the award to Glass in New York. The composer who was initially renowned for his work for opera and his symphonies has made an equally impressive contribution to film music, with a rich oeuvre of film scores that include The Hours, Koyaanisqatsi, The Truman Show, Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters and Kundun. He has has previously been recognized at the World Soundtrack Awards in 2007 with two nominations for his Academy Award-nominated score for Notes on a Scandal.

The show’s original music is composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Ad Astra, Mary Queen of Scots, Hostiles, Waltz with Bashir, Spaceman) and Jon Opstad (Bodies, Black Mirror: White Bear & White Christmas, The Woman in White, We Hunt Together) . Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music on May 3. Premiering on Wednesday, May 1, is the British Disney+/Hulu original series Shardlake developed by Stephen Butchard based on C.J. Sansom’s novels and starring Arthur Hughes, Anthony Boyle,Sean Bean, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Babou Ceesay, Paul Kaye, Brian Vernel, Matthew Steer, Peter Firth, Miles Barrow and David Pearse. Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, The Regime, Queen of Katwe, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, State of Play, Touching the Void) has composed the show’s original music. Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Friday. ‘The Pigeon Tunnel’ Soundtrack Album Details
Platoon will release a soundtrack album for the documentary The Pigeon Tunnel. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Philip Glass (The Hours, Notes on a Scandal, The Illusionist, Koyaanisqatsi, Candyman, Kundun, The Fog of War) and Paul Leonard-Morgan (Limitless, Dredd, Boston Strangler, Dynasty). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, October 20 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The Pigeon Tunnel is directed by Errol Morris and chronicles the storied life and career of former British spy David Cornwell, better known as author John le Carré (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Night Manager, The Constant Gardener) over a six decade-spanning career.
Philip Glass’ New Arrangement of ‘Mishima’ from ‘Bob’s Burgers’ Released
Orange Mountain Music has released Philip Glass‘ arrangement of his music from Paul Schrader’s 1985 feature Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters from the Fox animated series Bob’s Burgers. The Academy Award-nominated composer of such films The Hours, Notes on a Scandal, Koyaanisqatsi, Kundun & The Illusionist has created a new arrangement for the Season 13 episode The Plight Before Christmas. The track is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon, and can also be checked out after the jump.

Apple TV+ announced today that Philip Glass (The Hours, The Illusionist, Notes on a Scandal, Candyman, Kundun), in collaboration with Paul Leonard-Morgan (Limitless, Dredd, Dynasty, Boston Strangler), has composed the original score for the upcoming documentary The Pigeon Tunnel. The film is directed by Errol Morris and centers on the storied life and career of former British spy David Cornwell, better known as John le Carré, author of such spionage novels as Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, The Night Manager and The Constant Gardener.
‘The Last Dalai Lama?’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Orange Mountain Music will release a soundtrack album for the documentary The Last Dalai Lama?. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Philip Glass (The Hours, Notes on a Scandal, The Illusionist, Candyman, Kundun) & Tibetan musician Tenzin Choegyal and performed by Glass and Michael Riesman on pianos, Choegyal on vocals and various Tibetan instruments, Tim Fain on Violin, Robert Black on double bass, and the Scorchio String. Also incuded is Glass’s own live performance of Mad Rush, composed for the Dalai Lama’s first public address in New York in 1978. The soundtrack will be released on July 24 and is now available for pre-order on Apple Music/iTunes. A CD version will be available to order on Amazon soon.
‘Tales from the Loop’ Soundtrack to Be Released
Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for the Amazon original series Tales from the Loop. The album features selections of the original music from the show composed by Academy Award nominee Philip Glass (The Hours, Notes on a Scandal, Kundun, Koyaanisqatsi, The Illusionist, Candyman) & Emmy Award nominee Paul Leonard-Morgan (Limitless, Dredd, Wormwood, Dynasty, Designated Survivor). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 3 and will be available to stream/download here. Tales from the Loop is developed by Nathaniel Halpern inspired by the paintings of Simon Stålenhag and stars Rebecca Hall, Duncan Joiner, Daniel Zolghadri, Tyler Barnhardt and Jonathan Pryce. The drama explores the adventures of the people who live above the Loop, a machine built to unlock and explore the mysteries of the universe.
