Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album for the comedy drama The Persian Version. The album features the film’s original music written by singer/songwriter, record producer and composer Rostam Batmanglij (The OA, Sound of My Voice). Also included is the cover version of Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Want to Have Fun performed by lead actress Niousha Noor (listen to the track below). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The Persian Versionis written and directed by Maryam Keshavarz and stars Layla Mohammadi, Noor, Kamand Shafieisabet, Bella Warda, Bijan Daneshmand, Chiara Stella, Shervin Alenabi and Tom Byrne. The movie follows an Iranian-American woman who comes from two countries at odds with each other and strives to embrace her opposing cultures. The dramedy premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it received both the Audience Award and the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, and is being released in select theaters this weekend by Sony Pictures Classics.
