Guy Moon died this past Thursday at age 63 due to injuries sustained from a traffic collision in Los Angeles. The composer wrote dozens of scores and songs for film and television over the last four decades. His best known credits include Nickelodeon’s animated series The Fairly OddParents, for which he received four Primetime Emmy Award nominations in the Music & Lyrics category, as well as the 1995 hit feature The Brady Bunch Movie and its 1996 sequel A Very Brady Sequel, Nickelodeon’s Danny Phantom & Back at the Barnyard, DreamWorks Animation’s Prime Video animated show The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle, Michael Miner’s 1989 thriller Deadly Weapon, Strathford Hamilton’s 1990 feature Diving In, Aram Rappaport’s 2017 movie The Crash, the Netflix animated series Johnny Test and the 2024 Network original series The Green Veil.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (August 16, 2024)
Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the sci-fi/horror movie Alien: Romulus directed by Fede Alvarez and starring Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu. The film’s original music is composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Blade Runner 2049, Shazam!, Twisters, Hidden Figures, The Flash, The Invisible Man). Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today and Mutant will release a vinyl edition in the coming months. Also opening wide is the family adventure drama My Penguin Friend directed by David Schurmann and starring Jean Reno, Adriana Barraza, Alexia Moyano, Rochi Hernández, Nicolás Francella, Juan José Garnica and Pedro Urizzi. Fernando Velazquez (The Impossible, A Monster Calls, Crimson Peak, The Orphanage, Hercules, Devil) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score (performed by the Euskadiko Orchestra / Basque National Orchestra) is expected to be announced soon. ‘The Green Veil’ Soundtrack Album Released
Moon People Records has released a soundtrack album for the Network original series The Green Veil. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Guy Moon (The FairlyOdd Parents, The Crash, Back at the Barnyard). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on most major digital music services, including Amazon. Also listen to the composer’s main title and first score track (The Beach) after the jump. The Green Veil is created by Adam Rappaport and starring John Leguizamo, John Ortiz, Irene Bedard, Hani Furstenberg, Steven Boyer and Isabelle Poloner. The thriller revolves around a government agent in the 1950s who gets tasked with an unraveling secret mission that threatens to expose deeper secrets.

Premiering on Tuesday, April 30, is the FX limited series The Veil created by Steven Knight and starring Elisabeth Moss, Yumna Marwan, Josh Charles and Dali Benssalah. The show’s original music is composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Ad Astra, Mary Queen of Scots, Hostiles, Waltz with Bashir, Spaceman) and Jon Opstad (Bodies, Black Mirror: White Bear & White Christmas, The Woman in White, We Hunt Together) . Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music on May 3. Premiering on Wednesday, May 1, is the British Disney+/Hulu original series Shardlake developed by Stephen Butchard based on C.J. Sansom’s novels and starring Arthur Hughes, Anthony Boyle,Sean Bean, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Babou Ceesay, Paul Kaye, Brian Vernel, Matthew Steer, Peter Firth, Miles Barrow and David Pearse. Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, The Regime, Queen of Katwe, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, State of Play, Touching the Void) has composed the show’s original music. Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Friday.
