Orange Mountain Music will release a soundtrack album for Godfrey Reggio’s upcoming feature Visitors. The album features the film’s original music composed by Philip Glass (The Hours, Notes on a Scandal) who previously scored the director’s Qatsi Trilogy formed by the films Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi, and Naqoyqatsi. The music is performed by the Bruckner Orchester Linz and conducted by Dennis Russell Davies. The soundtrack will be released both digitally and physically on September 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Visitors marks Godfrey’s first movie in over a decade and is said to “reveal humanity’s trancelike relationship with technology, which, when commandeered by extreme emotional states, produces massive effects far beyond the human species”.

Philip Glass’ Score for Godfrey Reggio’s ‘Visitors’ to Be Performed at TIFF
Philip Glass has reunited with director Godfrey Reggio on his upcoming feature Visitors. The project marks the fourth film that the director and composer have collaborated on following the Qatsi Trilogy formed by the films Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi, and Naqoyqatsi. It was announced today the movie will celebrate its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival where members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra will perform Glass’s score live. Visitors is presented in Black and White digital 4K projection and is said to “reveal humanity’s trancelike relationship with technology, which, when commandeered by extreme emotional states, produces massive effects far beyond the human species”. Jon Kane is producing and editing the project and Steven Soderbergh is presenting the film.
‘Stoker’ Soundtrack Details
The details of the soundtrack album for the psychological thriller Stoker have been revealed. The soundtrack features the film’s original score composed by Clint Mansell (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream). Also included is the original song Becomes the Color by Emily Wells, an original piano piece by composed by Philip Glass, as well as Nancy Sinatra’s & Lee Hazelwood’s Summer Wine. The soundtrack will be released on February 26, 2013. Stoker directed by Park Chan-wook and starring Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Dermot Mulroney and Jacki Weaver centers on a teenage girl who must deal with the unexpected appearance of a mysterious uncle following the death of her father.

Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is Universal Pictures’ action tentpole Battleship directed by Peter Berg and starring Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard, Brooklyn Decker, Hamish Linklater and Rihanna. The film’s music is composed by Steve Jablonsky (Transformers). Varese Sarabande Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the ensemble comedy ensemble What to Expect When You’re Expecting directed by Kirk Jones and starring Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Chace Crawford, Brooklyn Decker, Anna Kendrick, Matthew Morrison, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock and Rodrigo Santoro. Mark Mothersbaugh has composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack album featuring the movie’s songs by artists including Chiddy Bang, The Human League, Kinky, Sleeper Agent, Black Lips, Robert Palmer and David Gray has been released by Capitol Records. ‘Elena’ Features Music by Philip Glass
The Russian drama Elena recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Composer Philip Glass wrote an original score for the movie. The film is directed by Andrei Zvyagintsev who is best known for helming the 2003 drama The Return, which received a Golden Globe nomination for best foreign language film. Elena centers on an elderly woman who has lived with her rich husband in a large, comfortable home and tries to rescue her alcoholic son from poverty and give his family the opportunity for a better life that she alone could not provide. The film has won the Un Certain Regard special jury prize in Cannes and has received mostly positive reviews, which makes an international and domestic release likely.
