CJ ENM has released a soundtrack album for the South Korean comedy thriller No Other Choice. The album features the film’s original music composed by Cho Young-wuk (Oldboy, The Handmaiden, Thirst, Decision to Leave,The Sympathizer, The Little Drummer Girl, Lady Vengeance, Nine Puzzles) & The Soundtrackings. No Other Choice is co-written and directed by Park Chan-wook and stars Lee Byung-hun, Son Yejin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Cha Seung-won, Yeom Hye-ran and Yoo Yeon-seok. The movie is based on the novel The Ax by Donald Westlake and follows a man on a desperate hunt to eliminate his competition for a new job after an abrupt layoff from the paper company he served for 25 years.

Composer Cho Young-wuk is reteaming with director Park Chan-wook on the upcoming South Korean comedy thriller No Other Choice. The film is based on the novel The Ax by Donald Westlake and stars Lee Byung-hun, Son Yejin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, Cha Seung-won and Yoo Yeon-seok. The movie follows a man who is abruptly laid off by the paper company where he worked tirelessly for many years and grows increasingly desperate in his hunt for new work.
‘The Sympathizer’ Soundtrack Album Released
WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album for the HBO limited series The Sympathizer. The album features the show’s original score composed by Cho Young-Wuk (Oldboy, The Handmaiden, Lady Vengeance, Thirst, The Little Drummer Girl, Decision to Leave). Also included are songs by Maxwell Whittington-Cooper, Pham Thi Bao Tran, Duong Minh Quan, Đình Bảo, Lam Anh, as well as Robert Downey Jr.’s rendition of Helen Reddy’s You and Me Against the World and Vy Le’s Lady Marmalade cover. The Sympathizer is developed by Park Chan-wook & Don McKellar based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Viet Thanh Nguyen and stars Hoa Xuande, Downey Jr., Fred Nguyen Khan, Vy Le, Toan Le, Phanxine, Kieu Chinh, Ky Duyen, Alan Trong, Duy Nguyen and Sandra Oh.

The album features the film’s original music composed by Cho Young-wuk (Oldboy, The Handmaiden, The Little Drummer Girl, Lady Vengeance, Thirst) and The Soundtrackings. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download in most international markets. No word yet on a domestic release. Visit the British iTunes/Apple Music and Amazon stores to check out audio samples. Decision to Leave is co-written and directed by Park Chan-wook and stars Tang Wei and Park Hae-il. The movie follows a detective investigating a murder who begins to suspect the dead man’s wife may know more than she initially lets on and finds himself trapped in a web of deception and desire.
Cho Young-wuk Scoring Park Chan-wook’s ‘Decision to Leave’
Composer Cho Young-wuk is reteaming with director Park Chan-wook on the upcoming South Korean drama Decision to Leave. The film starring Tang Wei and Park Hae-il follows a police officer who leads an investigation that occurred in the mountains and meets and falls for the deceased’s wife mysterious wife. Chan-wuk also co-wrote the screenplay with Jeong Seo-kyeong and is producing the Moho Film production.
‘Stoker’ Soundtrack Details
The details of the soundtrack album for the psychological thriller Stoker have been revealed. The soundtrack features the film’s original score composed by Clint Mansell (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream). Also included is the original song Becomes the Color by Emily Wells, an original piano piece by composed by Philip Glass, as well as Nancy Sinatra’s & Lee Hazelwood’s Summer Wine. The soundtrack will be released on February 26, 2013. Stoker directed by Park Chan-wook and starring Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Dermot Mulroney and Jacki Weaver centers on a teenage girl who must deal with the unexpected appearance of a mysterious uncle following the death of her father.
Emily Wells’ Original Song ‘Becomes the Color’ from ‘Stoker’ Released
Milan Records has released the original song Becomes the Color performed by violinist/singer Emily Wells from the psychological thriller Stoker. The one-track single is now available to download on Amazon. Listen to the full track after the jump. As previously reported, the label will release a soundtrack album for the film featuring Wells’ song, as well as Clint Mansell’s score and additional music by Philip Glass on February 26, 2013. Stoker directed by Park Chan-wook and starring Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Dermot Mulroney and Jacki Weaver will be released on March 1, 2013 by Fox Searchlight.
Clint Mansell Scoring Park Chan-wook’s ‘Stoker’
Clint Mansell is scoring the upcoming psychological thriller Stoker. The film is helmed by Korean director Park Chan-wook (Oldboy) and stars Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Dermot Mulroney and Jacki Weaver. The Fox Searchlight Pictures production centers on a teenage girl who must deal with the unexpected appearance of a mysterious uncle following the death of her father. Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) has written the film’s script under the pseudonym Ted Foulke. Ridley and Tony Scott, as well as Michael Costigan (Being Flynn, Smart People) are producing the director’s first English language feature film through their Scott Free Productions company. It has previously been reported that Academy Award-winner Philip Glass was involved as the composer of the mystery thriller earlier this year.
