The only movie opening in wide release this weekend is the action thriller I, Frankenstein written and directed by Stuart Beattie and starring Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto and Jai Courtney. The film’s original score is composed by Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil (Cloud Atlas, One Hour Photo). Lisa Gerrard has composed additional music. Opening in around 400 theaters is the indie drama Gimme Shelter written and directed by Ron Krauss and starring Vanessa Hudgens, Rosario Dawson, Brendan Fraser, James Earl Jones, Ann Dowd and Dascha Polanco. Olafur Arnalds (Broadchurch, Another Happy Day) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring his score is set to be released next week. Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain), Paul Haslinger (Underworld) and Assaf Rinde are credited as composers of additional score/music. Orange Mountain Music will release a soundtrack album for Godfrey Reggio’s upcoming feature Visitors. The album features the film’s original music composed by Philip Glass (The Hours, Notes on a Scandal) who previously scored the director’s Qatsi Trilogy formed by the films Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi, and Naqoyqatsi. The music is performed by the Bruckner Orchester Linz and conducted by Dennis Russell Davies. The soundtrack will be released both digitally and physically on September 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on 
Philip Glass has reunited with director Godfrey Reggio on his upcoming feature Visitors. The project marks the fourth film that the director and composer have collaborated on following the Qatsi Trilogy formed by the films Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi, and Naqoyqatsi. It was announced today the movie will celebrate its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival where members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra will perform Glass’s score live. Visitors is presented in Black and White digital 4K projection and is said to “reveal humanity’s trancelike relationship with technology, which, when commandeered by extreme emotional states, produces massive effects far beyond the human species”. Jon Kane is producing and editing the project and Steven Soderbergh is presenting the film.
