Benjamin Wallfisch has been tapped to score the upcoming horror thriller Crawlspace. The film is directed by Phil Claydon (Lesbian Vampire Killers) and stars Michael Vartan, Erin Moriarty, Nadine Velazquez, Blake Jenner, Ronnie Gene Blevins and Misty Upham. The movie follows a widower with a daughter who gets remarried and has the opportunity for a new start in a new house and immediately falls prey to strange occurrences. James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious, Fast & Furious 7) is producing the New Line Cinema production with Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House, White Chicks) for The Safran Company. Daniel Hart is composing the music for the upcoming indie romantic comedy Comet. The film is written and directed by Sam Esmail and stars Emmy Rossum and Justin Long. The movie is set in a parallel universe and bounces back and forth over the course of an unlikely but perfectly paired couple’s six-year relationship. Farnaz Fahid, Chad Hamilton and Lee Clay (Beautiful Boy, 96 Minutes) are producing the project. Steve Golin (Babel, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, True Detective) is executive producing for Anonymous Content. On June 12, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) is sponsoring an evening of electronic music and conversation with composer Atticus Ross who will debut an original, stylized electronic soundscape to the audience. The composer of such films as The Book of Eli and Broken City and the upcoming Brian Wilson biopic Love & Mercy will talk about moving into film composing and discuss scoring David Fincher’s Academy Award-winning The Social Network, as well as the director’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and the upcoming Gone Girl with long-time collaborator Trent Reznor. Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the romantic drama Hidden Moon. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composer Luis Bacalov (Il Postino, Sea of Dreams). The soundtrack will be released on June 10, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Hidden Moon is directed by Pepe Bojórquez and stars Wes Bentley, Ana Serradilla, Johnathon Schaech and Linda Gray. The movie centers on a young man who meets a mysterious Latin American woman at his father’s funeral and follows her to Mexico, where he discovers her identity and realizes he has fallen in love with a woman who belongs to someone else. Moby is contributing music to the upcoming indie drama The Ever After. The film is directed by Mark Webber (The End of Love, Explicit Ills) who also stars in the film alongside his wife Teresa Palmer, Melissa Leo, Phoebe Tonkin, Rosario Dawson and Joshua Leonard. Moby also appears in a supporting role in the movie. The drama follows a mother and wife and her fashion photographer husband who must confront their innermost vulnerabilities to recover their disintegrating marriage. ‘Gambit’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the crime comedy Gambit in the U.S. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rolfe Kent (Sideways, About Schmidt, Labor Day, Mean Girls), as well as original songs by Robby Armstrong. Also included are songs by Peggy Lee and Moe Brandy. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 13, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. The album has previously been released in select stores overseas when the movie opened in the UK. ‘Cold in July’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Cold in July. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jeff Grace (Meek’s Cutoff, The House of the Devil) who previously collaborated with the film’s director Jim Mickle on Stake Land and last year’s We Are What We Are. Also included is White Lions’ Wait, Dynatron’s Cosmo Black and Kasey Lansdale’s Back of my Smile. The soundtrack will be released on May 19, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Cold in July stars Michael C. Hall, Sam Shepard, Don Johnson & Vinessa Shaw and follows a small-town Texas man who kills a home intruder, only to see his life violently unravel. The thriller premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by IFC Films for domestic distribution. The film will be released on May 23 in select theaters and on VOD. Expanded ‘The Lion King’ Soundtrack Announced

Walt Disney Records has announced a new line of CDs, The Legacy Collection,which will celebrate the anniversaries of a number of Disney classics. The first release is for the 1994 animated feature The Lion King, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of the movie’s release. The album features the songs from the film composed by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice, as well as the film’s original score composed by Hans Zimmer, including 30 minutes of previously unreleased music and demo cues. John and Rice received an Academy Award for their original song Can You Feel the Love Tonight? and Zimmer won his first and only Oscar for his score. The soundtrack will be released on June 24, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Lion King directed by Roger Allers & Rob Minkoff is now also available on Blu-ray and DVD. James Newton Howard to Score Edward Zwick’s ‘Pawn Sacrifice’

James Newton Howard is reuniting with director Edward Zwick on the upcoming biographical drama Pawn Sacrifice. The film is set at the height of the Cold War and tells the true story of U.S. chess prodigy Bobby Fischer and his epic faceoff against Russia’s Boris Spassky. Tobey Maguire is portraying Fischer while Liev Schreiber plays his archrival. Peter Saarsgard, Michael Stuhlbarg, Lily Rabe and Sophie Nelisse are co-starring. Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Dirty Pretty Things, Locke) jas written the screenplay. Maguire is also producing the project with Gail Katz (The Perfect Storm, Air Force One, Outbreak).
