rogueThe first soundtrack album for the DirecTV original series Rogue has been released. The album features selections from the original score of the show’s first season composed by Jeff Toyne (Dirty GirlBlooded). The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes and Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Rogue is created by Matthew Parkhill and stars Thandie Newton, Marton Csokas, Ian Hart, Claudia Ferri, Joshua Sasse, Jonathan Holmes, Sarah Jeffrey, Ian Tracey, Jarod Joseph, Matthew Beard and Martin Donovan. The show’s first season is  now available on DVD. Toyne is also scoring the second season of the series, which follows Grace Travis as she has moved to San Francisco with her daughter and works as an FBI handler for a task force investigating corporate espionage. the-divideThe alternative rock band thenewno2 has been tapped to compose the music for the upcoming WE tv drama The Divide. The show is created by Academy Award-nominated writer Richard LaGravenese (The Fisher King, The Bridges of Madison County) and Tony Goldwyn (Conviction, A Walk on the Moon) and stars Marin Ireland, Damon Gupton, Nia Long, Paul Schneider, Joe Anderson and Clarke Peters. The series follows an impassioned caseworker with The Innocence Initiative as she delves into the case of a death row inmate whom she believes was wrongly convicted of a young family’s heinous murder 11 years earlier. LaGravanese and Goldwyn are also executive producing the AMC Studios production with John Tinker (The Practice, Chicago Hope) who also serves as the showrunner on the project. julian-wassJulian Wass has been hired to score the upcoming indie romantic comedy Ride. The film marks the second directorial effort of actress Helen Hunt who also stars in the movie alongside Luke Wilson, Brenton Thwaites, David Zayas, Robert Knepper, Mike White, Richard Kind, Leonor Varela and Elizabeth Jayne. The comedy follows a strong-willed mother who follows her 20-year-old son to Los Angeles after he quits college at NYU to become a surfer. Hunt has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Lizzie Friedman (And Soon the Darkness), Gregg Little (Sex and Death 101) and Moon Blauner. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christophe Beck (FrozenThe MuppetsThe HangoverBuffy the Vampire Slayer). The soundtrack will be released on June 3, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from the score after the jump. Edge of Tomorrow is directed by Doug Liman and stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic and Franz Drameh. The movie is set in the near future when an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault and follows an officer who finds himself reliving his last day over and over after being killed. inside-outMichael Giacchino confirmed during the pre-concert conversation at the world premiere live-to-projection concert of Star Trek Into Darkness at the KKL Concert Hall in Lucerne, Switzerland this weekend that he will be scoring Pixar’s upcoming animated feature Inside Out. The film is directed by Pete Doctor and features the voice talent of Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling and Phyllis Smith. The movie will be told from the perspective of the emotions inside the mind of an especially imaginative young girl. Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine) has written the screenplay. Jonas Rivera (Up) is producing the project. Giacchino has previously collaborated with Docter on the 2009 film Up, for which he received his first Academy Award. Read the rest of this entry »

james-hornerDirector Gabriele Muccino has announced that James Horner will be scoring the upcoming drama Fathers and Daughters. The film stars Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Aaron Paul, Quvenzhane Wallis, Diane Kruger, Jane Fonda, Octavia Spencer, Bruce Greenwood and Janet McTeer. The movie tells the story of a woman dealing with a crumbling relationship in the present and looking back on the relationship she had with her father, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, 25 years earlier. Brad Desch has written the Black List-honored screenplay. Craig J. Flores & Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, The Company You Keep) are producing the Voltage Pictures production with Sherryl Clark for Busted Shark Productions. Crowe serves as an executive producer. The comedy premiered at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival and was released in select theaters earlier this year. The movie is set in the 1980s and tells the true story of a high school coach who comes to the predominantly Latino town of McFarland, Calif. and creates a high school track team that becomes a championship-winning dynasty.
