preyPremiering on Thursday, February 25, is the British mini-series Prey created by Chris Lunt and starring Rosie Cavaliero, John Simm, Philip Glenister and MyAnna Buring. Daniel Pemberton (Steve JobsThe Man from U.N.C.L.E.The Counselor) has scored the first three episodes directed by Nick Murphy and Sarah Warne composed the music for the other three episodes directed by Lewis Arnold. cinemaaudiosocietyThe team behind the sound mixing of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s The Revenant has won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing in the Motion Pictures – Live Action category at tonight’s 52nd annual Cinema Audio Society Awards ceremony at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Scoring mixer Conrad Hensel, along with production mixer Chris Duesterdiek, re-recording mixers Jon Taylor, Randy Thom & Frank A. Montaño, ADR mixer Michael Miller and foley mixer Geordy Sincavage received the award for the drama starring Leonardo Di Caprio and scored by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto. The other contenders in the category were Bridge of Spies, The Hateful EightMad Max: Fury Road and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  Read the rest of this entry »

arctic-heartStephen Warbeck has recently composed the music for the upcoming French romantic comedy Arctic Heart (Le secret des banquises). The film is written and directed by Marie Madinier and stars Guillaume Canet, Charlotte Le Bon, Anne Le Ny, Patrick D’Assumçao and Damien Chapelle. The movie follows a timid young grad student who is madly in love with her scientist boss and offers her body to his research. The album features the songs from the show written by Rachel Bloom, Adam Schlesinger and Jack Dolgen and performed by the series’ cast. Jerome Kurtenbach co-wrote the song West Covina from the pilot episode. Also included are five original song demos. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is created by Aline Brosh McKenna & Rachel Bloom who also stars in the show alongside Santino Fontana, Donna Lynne Champlin, Vincent Rodriguez III, Pete Gardner, Vella Lovell and Gabrielle Ruiz. The album features the film’s original music composed by David Wingo (All the Real Girls, Our Brand Is Crisis, Joe, George Washington) who previously collaborated with the director on Take Shelter and Mud. The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 11, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. Midnight Special is written and directed by Nichols and stars Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver, Jaeden Lieberher, Sam Shepard, Bill Camp, Scott Haze and Paul Sparks. Harold Wheeler Named Oscar Music Director

harold-wheelerAcademy Awards producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin today announced that Harold Wheeler was selected as music director for this year’s 88th Oscars. He returns for the third Oscar telecast, his first as music director. Wheeler is best known as an orchestrator, composer, conductor, record producer and arranger and has received numerous Emmy and Tony Award nominations. His television credits include the People’s Choice Awards, the AFI’s 100 Years… series, and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. ‘Vinyl’ Vol. 1.2 Soundtrack Released

vinyl-2Atlantic Records has released a new EP for the HBO original series Vinyl. The soundtrack features the songs from the second episode of the show by The Del-Tino’s, Aimee Mann, Jerry Lee Lewis, Julian Casablancas and Don Covay. The EP is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. The label has previously released a full soundtrack album for the show and over the next couple of weeks will release new EPs every week with the songs from each episode. Vinyl created by Terence Winter, executive produced by Martin Scorsese and starring Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, Juno Temple, Ato Essandoh, P. J. Byrne, J. C. les-habitantsAlexandre Desplat is scoring the upcoming French documentary France (Les habitants). The film is directed by Raymond Depardon (Journal de France) and follows the filmmaker as he drives through France, from the north to the south, and stops in front of homes and places of business to meet the people of France. The album features a selection of songs from the show by artists including Ellie Goulding, Bleachers and Grimes, St. Vincent, BØRNS, Lucy Rose, Casey Veggies, Matrimony, Christine and the Queens & more. Also included are two tracks from the show’s original score composed by Michael Penn (Masters of Sex, Boogie Nights). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, February 19 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Fueled by Ramen and Atlantic Records have previously released the Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 soundtracks fro the series.
