Lorne Balfe has signed on to compose the music for the upcoming biographical drama Churchill. The film is directed by Jonathan Teplitzky (The Railway Man, Burning Man) and stars Brian Cox, Miranda Richardson, John Slattery, James Purefoy and Ella Purnell. The movie is set across the five days before D-Day in 1944 and charts the tension between the British PM and the Allied leaders, including Eisenhower and Montgomery, who are poised to launch the invasion of Nazi-occupied Europe. Expanded ‘Primal Fear’ Soundtrack to Be Released

La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack release for the 1996 thriller Primal Fear directed by Gregory Hoblit and starring Richard Gere, Edward Norton and Laura Linney. The album features the expanded and remastered original music from the film composed and produced by James Newton Howard (King Kong, The Hunger Games, The Sixth Sense, Signs, Maleficent, The Fugitive), including more than 30 minutes of previously unreleased cues, alternates and demos. Deadline is reporting that Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda will be teaming up to write the music for a live action feature adaptation of The Little Mermaid. The movie version is also said to feature songs from Disney’s classic animated movie, for which Menken won two Academy Awards for Best Original Song (with Howard Ashman) and Best Original Score. Marc Platt (Into the Woods, Wanted, Legally Blonde, Bridge of Spies) who is also on board of Disney’s upcoming Mary Poppins Returns will be producing the project. Ode Records will release a soundtrack album for the Fox television event The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The album features the songs from the two-hour re-imagining of the original movie performed by the film’s cast and written by Richard O’Brien. The soundtrack will be released on October 21, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is directed by Kenny Ortega (This Is It, High School Musical) and stars Laverne Cox, Victoria Justice, Adam Lambert, Ben Vereen, Christina Milian and Tim Curry. The movie executive produced by Ortega, Lou Adler and Gail Berman is a remake of the 1975 cult classic and follows sweethearts Janet and Brd who stumble upon Dr. Frank-n-Furter’s bizarre abode.
