Joseph Trapanese has composed the score for the pilot episode of the upcoming Amazon original series Jean-Claude Van Johnson. The show stars Jean-Claude Van Damme as a global martial arts and film sensation who is operating under the simple alias of “Johnson,” the most dangerous undercover private contractor in the world. Kat Foster, Moises Arias and Phylicia Rashad are co-starring. Van Damme is also executive producing the Scott Free production with Peter Atencio (Keanu, Key and Peele), Ridley Scott (Gladiator, The Martian, Alien) and David W. Saunder Jurriaans and Danny Bensi have been tapped to score the documentary Amanda Knox. The film is directed by Brian McGinn (Ferrell Takes the Field) & Rod Blackhurst (Here Alone) and recounts the infamous trial, conviction and eventual acquittal of Seattle native Amanda Knox for the 2007 murder of a British exchange student in Italy. Mette Heide (Taxi to the Dark Side) and Stephen Morse are producing the project and Adam Del Deo (The Case Against 8) and Ben Cotner & Lisa Nishimura (Making a Murderer, Chef’s Table, Virunga, Winter on Fire) serve as the executive producers. Johnny Jewel has recently composed the music for the upcoming Belgian drama Home. The film is directed by Fien Troch (Kid, Unspoken) and stars Sebastian Van Dun, Mistral Guidotti, Loïc Batog, Lena Suijkerbuijk, Karlijn Sileghem, Els Deceukelier, Robby Cleiren, Yavuz Saçikara and Els Dottermans. The movie explores three troubled teenagers’ relationships both with each other and the adult world around them. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure Pete’s Dragon directed by David Lowery and starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford. The film’s original music is composed by Daniel Hart (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Comet, Tumbleweed). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie by Bonnie “Prince” Billy, The Lumineers, Lindsey Stirling feat. Also opening wide is the animated comedy Sausage Party directed by Conrad Vernon & Greg Tiernan and starring Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd and Nick Kroll. Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Horrible Bosses) have composed the film’s original score. Menken has also contributed the original song The Great Beyond (with lyrics by Glenn Slater and the screenwriters). Steven Hathaway is producing the project and Robert Fernandez (Austenland) & Julia Sheehan serve as executive producers on the Fourth Floor and Moxie Pictures production. The full details of the soundtrack album for DreamWorks Animation’s feature Trolls have been revealed. The album features the songs from the film performed by the movie’s voice cast, including Justin Timberlake (who also serves as the executive music producer on the project), Anna Kendrick, Zooey Deschanel, Gwen Stefani and Ron Funches, as well as Ariana Grande & Earth, Wind & Fire. Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for the film adaptation of Dan Brown’s best-selling novel Inferno. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Gladiator, Inception, Pirates of the Caribbean) who previous scored the first two movies in the series, Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons.
