Jeff Cardoni has been hired to score the upcoming Netflix original series The Kominsky Method. The show is created by Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men) and stars Michael Douglas, Alan Arkin, Nancy Travis, Sarah Baker, Susan Sullivan, Emily Osment, Graham Rogers, Ashleigh LaThrop, Jenna Lyng Adams, Melissa Tang and Casey Brown. The comedy revolves around an actor who years ago had a brief fling with success and is now a revered Hollywood acting coach. Lorre and Douglas are also executive producing the Warner Bros. Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the drama My Friend Dahmer. The album features the film’s original music composed by Andrew Hollander (WaitressSleepwalk with MeSerious Moonlight). The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 30, 2018 and will be available to download on Amazon. My Friend Dahmer is directed by Marc Meyers and stars Ross Lynch, Anne Heche, Alex Wolff, Dallas Roberts and Vincent Kartheiser. Alan Silvestri is set to reteam with Robert Zemeckis on the upcoming fantasy drama The Women of Marwen. The film starring Steve Carell, Leslie Mann, Janelle Monae, Eiza Gonzalez, Diane Kruger, Falk Hentschel and Gwendoline Christie is based on Jeff Malmberg’s 2010 documentary Marwencol about a man who builds a miniature WWII-era village to help him get over a terrible life event. Zemeckis has also co-written the screenplay with Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas) and is producing the ImageMovers production with Jack Rapke & Steve Starkey (Cast Away, What Lies Beneath) and Cherylanne Martin. Ruth Barrett is composing the music for the upcoming BBC drama Bodyguard. The show is created by Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty) and stars Richard Madden, Keeley Hawes, Gina McKee, Sophie Rundle, Vincent Franklin and Rowena King. The 6-part thriller tells the story of a heroic but volatile war veteran now working as a Specialist Protection Officer for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch (RaSP) of London’s Metropolitan Police Service. Premiering tonight is the HBO original series Barry created by Bill Hader & Alec Berg and starring Hader himself, alongside Henry Winkler, Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carrigan and Glenn Fleshler. The show’s original music is composed by David Wingo (LovingMudMidnight SpecialTake Shelter). Nathaniel Mechaly is scoring the upcoming Netflix docu-series November 13. The 3-parter is directed by Jules & Gédéon Naudet (9/11) and explores the human stories behind the terrorist attacks that took place in Paris on November 13th, 2015. The documentary will share testimonies of the people brought together by tragedy, from the survivors, the fire department, the Police and the leaders of the French government including French President at the time of the events, François Hollande. The album features the songs from the movie by artists including Chris Brown, Future, Omarion, Stefflon Don, Troy Reign, Ni Emory & others. Also included is a suite from the film’s original score composed by Elvin Ross (Boo! A Madea Halloween, Diary of a Mad Black Woman). The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 30, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Expected to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi action adventure Pacific Rim Uprising directed by Steven S. DeKnight and starring John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian, Cailee Spaeny, Rinko Kikuchi, Burn Gorman, Adria Arjona and Charlie Day.  The film’s original music is composed by Lorne Balfe (The LEGO Batman MovieHome12 StrongTerminator GenisysGeniusThe Crown). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Wizkid, DJ Shadow and Anderson .Paak. Click here for the full album details.

Also opening wide is the animated feature Sherlock Gnomes directed by John Stevenson and featuring the voices of James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Maggie Smith, Michael Caine, Ashley Jensen, Matt Lucas, Stephen Merchant, Mary J. Blige and Johnny Depp. Chris Bacon (Source Code, Bates Motel) who previously co-scored Gnomeo & Juliet has composed the film’s original score. Elton John has composed new songs for the project, including the track Stronger Than I Ever Was, which is performed by Mary J. Blige. No word yet on a soundtrack release. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced that composer John Powell will be honored at the 33rd Annual Screen Music Awards (previously known as ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards) on May 23, 2018 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Powell will receive the Henry Mancini Award, which is given to composers for outstanding achievements and contributions to the world of music for film, television and visual media. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album for the romantic drama Heartbeats. The album features the film’s original score composed by Gingger Shankar (Circumstance, American Fable). Also included are the original songs from the movie by Roc Nation. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Heartbeats is written and directed by Duane Adler and stars Krystal Ellsworth, Aneesha Joshi, Daphne Zuniga, Amitash Pradhan, Paul McGillon, Justin Chon, Salman Yusuff Khan and Megan Alexander. The movie follows a young American college student with dreams of being a professional dancer who travels to India with her family for a week long Indian wedding and falls in love with a new style of dance, and with a young man who introduces it to her.
