2022 ASCAP Screen Music Awards Winners Announced
ASCAP has announced the winners of the 2022 ASCAP Screen Music Awards, recognizing its top film, television and video game composers. The event runs May 2-5 across @ASCAP social media and @ASCAPScreen on Instagram. The ASCAP Composers’ Choice Awards, voted on exclusively by the ASCAP composer and songwriter community, are presented to Germaine Franco for Film Score of the Year for Disney’s Encanto; to Cristobal Tapia de Veer for Television Score of the Year & Television Theme of the Year for HBO’s The White Lotus; to Amanda Jones for Documentary Score of the Year for Dreamland: The Burning of Black Wall Street; and to Wataru Hokoyama for Video Game Score of the Year for his work on Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart .
2022 ASCAP Composers’ Choice Awards Nominations Announced
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced today the nominees for the 2022 ASCAP Composers’ Choice Awards. Chosen by the ASCAP composer and songwriter community, the winners will be announced as part of the 2022 ASCAP Screen Music Awards during the week of May 2. The ASCAP Composers’ Choice Awards enable composers to recognize the artistic accomplishments of their peers and were introduced in 2014. The nominations committee includes composers and film, television and video game industry leaders. Voting is open to eligible ASCAP writer members until March 11.
2021 ASCAP Screen Music Awards Winners Announced
ASCAP has announced the winners of the 2021 ASCAP Screen Music Awards, recognizing its top film, television and video game composers. The ASCAP Composers’ Choice Awards, voted on exclusively by the ASCAP composer and songwriter community, are presented to Trent Reznor & Jon Batiste for Film Score of the Year for Pixar’s Soul; to Raphael Saadiq for Television Score of the Year for HBO’s Lovecraft Country; to Steven Price for Documentary Score of the Year for David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet; to Philip Glass & Paul Leonard-Morgan for Television Theme of the Year for Amazon’s Tales from a Loop; and to Gustavo Santaolalla for Video Game Score of the Year for his work on The Last of Us Part II.
2020 ASCAP Screen Music Awards Winners Announced
ASCAP has announced the winners of the 2020 ASCAP Screen Music Awards, recognizing its top film, television and video game composers. The accolades will take place with the hashtag #ASCAPAwards on ASCAP’s Facebook, Twitter, and on Instagram @ASCAP and @ASCAPScreen. Each winner will be honored in a post that enables fans, friends and peers to join in congratulating the music creators that bring their favorite onscreen entertainment to life. This year’s Top Box Office Film honor went to Hans Zimmer for The Lion King remake. Siddhartha Khosla won Top Network Series award for NBC’s This Is Us, and Ruth Barrett took home the Top Cable Series honor for her score to the British series Victoria. David Vanacore was the top winner in the Most Performed Themes and Underscore category.
Michael Giacchino to Receive ASCAP Henry Mancini Award
ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, has announced today that Michael Giacchino will be honored at this year’s 34th ASCAP Screen Music Awards, which takes place on May 15 in Beverly Hills. The Academy Award-, Emmy Award- and Grammy Award-winning composer whose credits include Up, The Incredibles, Lost, Ratatouille, Star Trek, Jurassic World, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Doctor Strange, among dozens of other titles, will receive the ASCAP Henry Mancini Award.
John Powell Honored at ASCAP Screen Music Awards
Last night, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) held its annual Screen Music Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. John Powell (Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Bourne Identity, Happy Feet, Shrek) was honored with the ASCAP Henry Mancini Award for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the world of film and television music. The composer was presented the award by Dean DeBlois, director of How to Train Your Dragon, for which Powell received his first Academy Award nomination and who is currently working with the composer on the third part of the animated franchise.

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced that composer John Powell will be honored at the 33rd Annual Screen Music Awards (previously known as ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards) on May 23, 2018 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Powell will receive the Henry Mancini Award, which is given to composers for outstanding achievements and contributions to the world of music for film, television and visual media. The composer is known for his scores for numerous animated movies, including How to Train Your Dragon (which earned him his first Academy Award nomination), Shrek, Happy Feet, Chicken Run, Bolt, Horton Hears a Who! and most recently, Ferdinand.
Stephen Schwartz, Michael Giacchino & Didier Lean Rachou Honored at ASCAP Screen Music Awards
Last night, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) held its annual Screen Music Awards at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Stephen Schwartz was honored with the ASCAP Founders Award, which is given to pioneering ASCAP songwriters who have made exceptional contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators. The Academy Award-, Grammy Award- and Golden Globe-winning composer was presented the award by ASCAP president Paul Williams. Several of Schwartz’s collaborators congratulated the songwriter via a video message, including former DreamWorks Animation head Jeffrey Katzenberg, actor Victor Garber, producer Marc Platt and composers/lyricists Benj Pasek & Justin Paul.
