Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the survival drama Adrift directed by Baltasar Kormákur and starring Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin. The film’s original music is composed by Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (LionPatrick MelroseGunpowder, The Current War). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as Emiliana Torrini’s cover of Tom Waits’ I Hope That I Don’t Fall in Love With You. Also opening wide is the sci-fi thriller Upgrade written and directed by Leigh Whannell and starring Logan Marshall-Green, Betty Gabriel, Harrison Gilbertson and Benedict Hardie. Jed Palmer (OtherLife) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the action thriller Skyscraper. The album features the film’s original music composed by Steve Jablonsky (Transformers series, Ender’s Game, Pain & Gain, The Island, Desperate Housewives). The CD version is currently set to be released on August 3, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A digital version will be coming out a few weeks earlier in July. Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the HBO original movie The Tale. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ariel Marx (To Dust). Also included is the song Wait On Me by Samora Pinderhughes & Common. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes/stream on Apple Music and will added to Amazon and other digital music stores next Friday, June 8. The Tale is written and directed by Jennifer Fox and stars Laura Dern, Isabelle Nélisse, Jason Ritter, Elizabeth Debicki, Ellen Burstyn and Common. The movie is based on Fox’s own life and follows a professor and documentary filmmaker who is a survivor of sexual abuse and recalls what happened to her when she was 13.

Gaumont has released a soundtrack album for the French drama Volontaire. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Bruno Coulais (The Chorus, Coraline, The Crimson Rivers, Winged Migration). Volontaire is directed by Hélène Fillières and stars Diane Rouxel, Lambert Wilson and Josiane Balasko. The movie follows a woman who enrolls as a communications officer in the Naval Fusiliers. Screamworks Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Feral. The album features the film’s original music composed by Elia Cmiral (RoninBattlefield EarthWrong TurnNash Bridges, Stigmata). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, June 1 and will be available to download on Amazon. A CD version is also in the works and will be released by Quartet Records. Feral is co-written and directed by Mark H. Young and stars Scout Taylor-Compton, Lew Temple, Olivia Luccardi, Renee Olstead, Brock Kelly, Landry Allbright and George Finn. The movie follows six grad students who get attacked by a wild animal on a weekend hike in the woods and become infected with an unknown virus that turns them into bloodthirsty creatures. Lesley Barber has been tapped to score the upcoming comedy Late Night. The film is directed by Nisha Ganatra and stars Emma Thompson, Mindy Kaling, John Lithgow, Hugh Dancy, Amy Ryan, Reid Scott, Paul Walter Hauser, Denis O’Hare, John Early, Max Casella and Megalyn Echikunwoke. The movie centers on a late-night talk show host who is at risk of losing her long-running show right when she hires her first female writer who revitalizes her show and her life.
