Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the survival drama Adrift directed by Baltasar Kormákur and starring Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin. The film’s original music is composed by Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (Lion, Patrick Melrose, Gunpowder, The Current War). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as Emiliana Torrini’s cover of Tom Waits’ I Hope That I Don’t Fall in Love With You. Also opening wide is the sci-fi thriller Upgrade written and directed by Leigh Whannell and starring Logan Marshall-Green, Betty Gabriel, Harrison Gilbertson and Benedict Hardie. Jed Palmer (OtherLife) has composed the film’s original music. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score.
