Decca Records has released the original song The Better Part of Bravery from LAIKA Studios’ animated feature Wildwood. The track written by Colin Meloy and performed by The Decemberists is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Also listen to the song after the jump. Dario Marianelli to Score Travis Knight’s ‘Wildwood’
Composer Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, V for Vendetta, Darkest Hour, Anna Karenina, Paddington 2) is reuniting with director Travis Knight on LAIKA’s upcoming animated feature Wildwood. The film is based on the bestselling novel written by The Decemberists lead singer and songwriter Colin Meloy and illustrated by artist Carson Ellis and follows the adventures of Prue McKeel as she sets off to the forests outside Portland’s city limits to find her baby brother who has been taken by a murder of crows.
‘Missing Link’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for LAIKA’s animated feature Missing Link. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Carter Burwell (Carol, Fargo, Twilight, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, No Country for Old Men). Also included is the original end titles song Do-Dilly-Do (A Friend Like You) written and performed by The Walkmen’s Walter Martin. The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 12, 2019 and is now available for pre-order here. A CD and vinyl version is also in the works. Check back on this page for the pre-order link. Carter Burwell has recently recorded his score for the upcoming animated feature Missing Link. The film is written and directed by Chris Butler (ParaNorman) and features the voice talent of Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana, Zach Galifianakis, Emma Thompson, Stephen Fry, Timothy Olyphant, Matt Lucas, David Walliams, Ching Valdez-Aran and Amrita Acharia. The movie revolves around the world’s foremost investigator of myths and monsters as he travels to America’s Pacific Northwest to prove the existence of a legendary creature.
‘Kubo and the Two Strings’ Soundtrack Details
Warner Bros. Records will release a soundtrack album for Laika’s animated feature Kubo and the Two Strings. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, V for Vendetta, Jane Eyre) who previously scored Laika’s The Boxtrolls. Also included is a cover of the song While My Guitar Gently Weeps performed by Regina Spektor and recorded specifically for the movie. The soundtrack will be released on August 5, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Kubo and the Two Strings is directed by Travis Knight and features the voices of Charlize Theron, Art Parkinson, and Ralph Fiennes, George Takei, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Vaccaro, Rooney Mara and Matthew McConaughey.
Dario Marianelli to Score Laika’s ‘Kubo and the Two Strings’
Dario Marianelli has been hired to score the upcoming animated feature Kubo and the Two Strings. The film is directed by Laika president and CEO Travis Knight and features the voices of Matthew McConaughey, Charlize Theron, Rooney Mara, Ralph Fiennes, Brenda Vaccaro and Art Parkinson. The movie is set in mythical ancient Japan and centers around Kubo who lives a quiet, normal life in a small shoreside village until a spirit from the past turns his life upside down and he must locate a magical suit of armor once worn by his late father, a legendary Samurai warrior. Marc Haimes and Chris Butler are writing the screenplay and Knight is producing the project with Arianne Sutner (ParaNorman).

Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for LAIKA Studios’ animated feature The Boxtrolls. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composer Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Anna Karenina, V for Vendetta).
