Warner Bros. Records will release a soundtrack album for Laika’s animated feature Kubo and the Two Strings. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, V for Vendetta, Jane Eyre) who previously scored Laika’s The Boxtrolls. Also included is a cover of the song While My Guitar Gently Weeps performed by Regina Spektor and recorded specifically for the movie. The soundtrack will be released on August 5, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Kubo and the Two Strings is directed by Travis Knight and features the voices of Charlize Theron, Art Parkinson, and Ralph Fiennes, George Takei, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Vaccaro, Rooney Mara and Matthew McConaughey. The movie is set in mythical ancient Japan and centers around Kubo who lives a quiet life in a small village until a spirit from the past turns his life upside down and he must locate a magical suit of armor once worn by his late father, a legendary Samurai warrior.
