Composer Antonio Pinto (City of God, McFarland, USA, Lord of War, Nine Days, Flight Risk, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind) is reuniting with director Asif Kapadia (The Return, Ali and Nino) on the upcoming British sports documentary Kenny Dalglish. The film is narrated by Dalglish himself and reveals the story of the Scotsman who is one of the Celtic’s and Liverpool’s greatest football players and a true icon of the sport for what he did off the pitch as much as on it. The movie features never-before-seen personal clips from his playing career and home life, as well as interviews with his wife Marina and footballing friends Graeme Souness and Alan Hansen.

Composer Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hour, V for Vendetta, Anna Karenina, Bumblebee, Kubo and the Two Strings) is reuniting with director Asif Kapadia on the new documentary Federer: Twelve Final Days. The film is directed by Kapadia (Amy, Senna) & Joe Sabia and captures the final chapter in Roger Federer’s legendary tennis career. The movie, which was originally a home video never intended for public viewing, features interviews from his rivals and friends, inclduing Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray, among others.

Neon announced today that composer Antonio Pinto (City of God, Nine Days, McFarland, USA, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, Lord of War) is set to reteam with director Asif Kapadia on the upcoming documentary thriller 2073. The film is inspired by Chris Marker’s 1962 experimental sci-fi movie La Jetée and centers on the challenges humanity will face in a dystopian future 50 years from now. Kapadia (The Warrior, The Return) is also producing the Double Agent, Neon and Film4 production with George Chignell (Citizen K).

Napoli in the 1980s. The documentary premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and has been released in several markets over the last couple of weeks.

The film marks actor Wagner Moura’s directorial debut and stars Seu Jorge, Adriana Esteves, Bruno Gagliasso, Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos and Humberto Carrão. The movie tells the story of Carlos Marighella, a Marxist Brazilian writer, politician and guerilla fighter who lived during the 20th century and was murdered by the brazilian military dictatorship in 1969.

Dario Marianelli to Score Laika’s ‘Kubo and the Two Strings’
Dario Marianelli has been hired to score the upcoming animated feature Kubo and the Two Strings. The film is directed by Laika president and CEO Travis Knight and features the voices of Matthew McConaughey, Charlize Theron, Rooney Mara, Ralph Fiennes, Brenda Vaccaro and Art Parkinson. The movie is set in mythical ancient Japan and centers around Kubo who lives a quiet, normal life in a small shoreside village until a spirit from the past turns his life upside down and he must locate a magical suit of armor once worn by his late father, a legendary Samurai warrior. Marc Haimes and Chris Butler are writing the screenplay and Knight is producing the project with Arianne Sutner (ParaNorman).

Antonio Pinto has composed the original score for the upcoming documentary Amy. The film is directed by Asif Kapadia (The Warrior, Far North, The Return) and chronicles British singer Amy Winehouse’s rise to fame with such hits like Rehab and Valerie before her untimely death at age 27 of alcohol poisoning. The movie features unseen archival footage and unheard tracks by Winehouse. James Gay-Rees (Exit Through the Gift Shop, The Quiet Ones) is producing the project for On The Corner Films. Pinto has previously collaborated with Kapadia on the documentaries Senna and the short The Odyssey.
