Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the drama Moonlight. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nicholas Britell (The Big Short, Free State of Jones, A Tale of Love and Darkness). Also included are songs by Goodie Mob, Boris Gardiner, Barbara Lewis and a piece by Mozart as featured in the movie. Moonlight is written and directed by Barry Jenkins and stars Naomie Harris, Andre Holland, Mahershala Ali, Janelle Monae, Alex R. Nathan Larson has composed the music for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Rapture. The film is directed by Steven Shainberg (Secretary, Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Farbus) and stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Chiklis, Peter Stormare, Lesley Manville, Kerry Bishé and Ari Millen. The movie follows a single mother who tries to break free from a mysterious organization that has abducted her. Brian Nelson (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night) has written a screenplay based on a story by himself and Shainberg. Marvel Entertainment has published the first full track from the soundtrack for the studio’s Doctor Strange. Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the original score for Walt Disney Pictures’ 2003 feature The Haunted Mansion directed by Rob Minkoff and starring Eddie Murphy, Terence Stamp, Wallace Shawn, Marsha Thomason and Jennifer Tilly. The album features the film’s music composed by Mark Mancina (Tarzan, Twister, Speed, Brother Bear, Con Air, Bad Boys, Moana). The 2-CD set includes the complete score, as well as unused alternates and additional cues. Only one track from the composer’s score has previously been released and was featured on the original 2003 soundtrack album. Lorne Balfe has been hired to score the National Geographic Channel’s first scripted series Genius. The show’s first season is based on Walter Isaacson’s book Einstein: His Life and Universe and stars Geoffrey Rush as Albert Einstein. Ron Howard (Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Backdraft) is directing the first episode of the drama, which chronicles how an imaginative, rebellious patent clerk, who couldn’t get a teaching job or a doctorate, unlocked the mysteries of the atom and the universe. Johnny Flynn co-stars as Einstein in the years before he rose to international attention and acclaim. Noah Pink has adapted Isaacson’s book for the Fox 21 Television production. The film is directed by James Oakley (The Devil You Know) and stars Uma Thurman, Stephen Fry, Tim Roth, Parker Posey, Maggie Q, Alice Eve, Crispin Glover and Sofia Vergara. The movie follows a British con-artist couple who flee to Los Angeles to avoid paying a large debt to a gangster and try to win back the money via a jewel theft operation. Oakley also co-wrote the screenplay with Alex Michaelides. Cassian Elwes (Lee Daniels’ The Butler, Elvis & Nixon), JC Chandor (A Most Violent Year, All Is Lost), Robert Ogden Barnum (Margin Call, Miles Ahead) and Dave Hansen (Lovesong) are producing the project.
