A soundtrack album has been released for the docu-series The Staircase. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Jocelyn Pook (Eyes Wide Shut, The Wife, The Merchant of Venice, Brick Lane). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The Staircase is directed and executive produced by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade and centers on the trial of author Michael Peterson who, after the mysterious death of his wife, watches his life go under the microscope. The series premiered in 2004 in France on Canal + and the following year on BBC Four in the UK and on the Sundance Channel in the U.S.. An updated version featuring three new episodes premiered earlier this year and is now available exclusively on Netflix.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Already playing in theaters since this past Wednesday is the romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians directed by Jon M. Chu and starring Constance Wu, Gemma Chan, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong, Michelle Yeoh, Henry Golding and Chris Pang. The film’s original score is composed by Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Fast & Furious series). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score (click here for the full album details), as well as a separate album featuring the songs from the movie (click here for more information).
Opening nationwide today is the action thriller Mile 22 directed by Peter Berg and starring Mark Wahlberg, Lauren Cohan, Iko Uwais, Ronda Rousey and John Malkovich. Jeff Russo (Fargo, Star Trek: Discovery, Legion, The Night Of) has composed the film’s original score. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music.
