Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the action sequel John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Mark Dacascos, Anjelica Huston, Jason Mantzoukas and Ian McShane. The film’s original music is composed by Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool 2, 300, Watchmen, The Punisher) & Joel J. Richard (John Wick 1 & 2). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score today. Check out our previous article for the full album details.

Also opening wide is the family drama A Dog’s Journey directed by Gail Mancuso and starring Kathryn Prescott, Betty Gilpin, Dennis Quaid, Henry Lau, Marg Helgenberger and Josh Gad. Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, The Accountant, A River Runs Through It) has composed the film’s original score. The National’s Bryce Dessner Scoring Andrea Berloff’s ‘The Kitchen’

Bryce Dessner of the rock band The National has composed the original music for the upcoming drama The Kitchen. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton, World Trade Center) and stars Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, Elisabeth Moss, Domhnall Gleeson, James Badge Dale, Brian d’Arcy James, Margo Martindale, Common, Bill Camp, Jeremy Bobb, Alicia Coppola, John Sharian and Myk Watford. The movie is based on the Vertigo comic book series from DC Entertainment created by Ollie Masters & Ming Doyle and follows three 1978 Hell’s Kitchen housewives whose mobster husbands are sent to prison by the FBI and decide to take the Irish mafia’s matters into their own hands.

The National members Bryce Dessner & Aaron Dessner have composed the original music for the upcoming documentary What Will Become of Us. The film is directed by Academy Award-nominated documentarian Steven Cantor (Dancer, Step) and centers on Sir Frank Lowy, the billionaire co-founder of Westfield Corporation as he faces a dilemma: whether or not to sell his multinational company, his life’s work and legacy. Dani Drusin, Jamie Schutz and Nina Chaudry are producing the project.

Bryce Dessner Scoring Fernando Meirelles’ ‘The Pope’

Last week, Bryce Dessner has recorded his score for the upcoming Netflix original movie The Pope. The film is directed by Fernando Meirelles (The Constant Gardener, City of God, Blindness) and stars Anthony Hopkins as Pope Benedict and Jonathan Pryce as Pope Francis, as well as Juan Minujín, Cristina Banegas and María Ucedo. The drama explores the relationship and opposing visions between two of the most powerful leaders in the Catholic Church, both of whom must address their own pasts and the demands of the modern world in order to move the church forward. Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything, Darkest Hour) wrote the screenplay.

Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the drama Sully directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart and Laura Linney. The film’s original music is composed by Christian Jacob and The Tierney Sutton Band. Eastwood has contributed the score’s theme and also co-wrote the end titles song Flying Home based on his theme. Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album within the next couple of weeks. Check back on this page for more information and visit the official movie website to learn more about the film.

Also opening wide is the thriller When the Bough Breaks directed by Jon Cassar and starring Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall, Romany Malco, Michael K. Williams, Theo Rossi and Jaz Sinclair. John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, The Following, Dante’s Peak, Office Space) has composed the film’s original score. Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Milan Records to Release Aaron & Bryce Dessner’s ‘Transpecos’ Soundtrack

Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the indie thriller Transpecos. The album features the film’s original music composed by The National’s Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner (The Revenant). Also included is the end credits song Afraid of Everyone by The National. The soundtrack is set to be released on September 9, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The track list will be added to this article soon. Transpecos is co-written and directed by Greg Kwedar and stars Johnny Simmons, Gabriel Luna and Clifton Collins, Jr. The movie follows three border patrol agents who encounter a Mexican drug cartel following the deadly aftermath of a vehicle inspection gone wrong.

‘The Revenant’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the soundtrack album for Alejandro G. Inarritu’s dramatic thriller The Revenant have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music by Academy Award winner Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor, Snake Eyes, Little Buddha) and Alva Noto. The National member Bryce Dessner has also contributed additional music. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 25, 2015 and physically (on CD and vinyl) in early 2016 by Milan Records. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. The Revenant starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson & Will Poulter takes place in the 1800s and follows an explorer who is abandoned by his hunting team after a brutal bear attack and must withstand the elements and the wilderness to survive and return to his family.

Ryuichi Sakamoto to Collaborate with Alva Noto & The National’s Bryce Dessner on ‘The Revenant’

Ryuichi Sakamoto has announced on Twitter that he is collaborating with Carsten Nicolai aka Alva Noto and Bryce Dessner on Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s upcoming dramatic thriller The Revenant. The movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter is based on the novel of the same title by Michael Punke and follows legendary explorer Hugh Glass who is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. Nicolai is a German electronic music artist who previously worked together on several records with Sakamoto. Dessner is best known as a member of the Grammy Award-winning band The Nationals.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the film adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi novel Ender’s Game directed by Gavin Hood and starring Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Abigail Breslin and Harrison Ford. Steve Jablonsky (Transformers series, Battleship) has composed the film’s original score. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music.
