Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the horror sequel Final Destination 5. The film’s music is composed by Brian Tyler and the album includes 19 track of the composer’s score. The soundtrack will be released on August 16, 2011 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Final Destination 5 is directed by Steven Quale and stars Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Tony Todd and David Koechner. Clint Mansell to Score ‘The Iron Lady’

In Contention (via The Playlist) is reporting that Clint Mansell is scoring the upcoming biopic The Iron Lady. The movie is directed by Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia!) and stars Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher and Jim Broadbent as her husband, Denis. The film follows the former British prime minister’s career, which saw her smash through barriers of gender and class in order to be heard in a male-dominated world. Ami Morgan (Brick Lane) wrote the project’s screenplay and Damian Jones (Millions, The History Boys) is producing. Milan Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the second season of the Syfy series Warehouse 13. Deborah Lurie to Score ‘Dorothy of Oz’

Deborah Lurie has signed on to score the upcoming animated 3D musical Dorothy of Oz. The movie’s story is an update on The Wizard of Oz and centers on Dorothy Gale who is returning to a tornado-devastated Kansas and then being transported back to Oz to help her friend. The movie’s voice cast includes Lea Michele, Jim Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Kelsey Grammer, Oliver Platt, Martin Short, Megan Hilty and Hugh Dancy. Dorothy of Oz is directed by Dan St. Pierre (Everyone’s Hero). While Lurie is writing the score, the film’s songs are written by Bryan Adams, Tift Merritt and Jim Vallance. Mark Isham has recently recorded his score for the upcoming drama The Lucky One. The composer has taken over scoring duties from Hal Lindes who was originally attached to write the music for the film as reported earlier this year. The movie based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, Dear John) follows a Marine who survives three tours in Iraq and attributes his good fortune to a photograph he carried of a woman he has never met. He sets out to meet his good-luck charm when he returns to North Carolina. Magic City stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olga Kurylenko, Jessica Marais, Steven Strait, Christian Cooke, Kelly Lynch, Seymour Cassel and Danny Huston. The project is created by Mitch Glazer (The Recruit, Great Expectations). Dwayne Shattuck (Mad Men) and Ed Bianchi (The Killing, Deadwood) are producing alongside Glazer. Madison Gate Records has announced a score album for the live-action/animated hyrbid film adaptation of The Smurfs. The album includes the original score by composer Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Beverly Hills Chihuaha). The album will be released on July 26, 2011 and is available for pre-order on Amazon.
