Rolfe Kent is set to score the upcoming French 3D animated feature 108 Demons (La légende des 108). The film is directed by Pascal Morelli who previously helmed the animated adventure Corto Maltese. The movie inspired by the Chinese novel Outlaws of the Water Margin is set in 12th Century China and follows a 10-year-old prince who teams with outlaws to fight the armies of a tyrannical emperor. Morelli has also co-written the screenplay with Jean Pecheux based on Hugo Pratt’s comicbook. Vincent Roget and Francois Cornuau (Les Brigades du Tigre) of Same Player are producing the project with China’s Fundamental, Belgium’s Scope Pictures and Luxembourg’s Bidibul Productions. ‘Veronica Mars’ Movie Soundtrack Announced

WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the upcoming Veronica Mars feature. The album includes the songs from the film by artists including Emperor X, Max, Mr. Twin Sister, ZZ Wars, Typhoon, Lou Rawls, Sufjan Stevens and more. Also features is the show’s title song We Used to Be Friends by The Dandy Warhol, as well as a new version by Alejandro Escovedo. The album will be released on March 4, 2014. The label will also release a separate soundtrack featuring the film’s original score by Josh Kramon on the same date. Check back on this page for the full details. Veronica Mars is directed by Rob Thomas and stars Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Chris Lowell, Francis Capra, Krysten Ritter, Gaby Hoffmann and Daran Norris. Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the animated feature The Lego Movie directed by Phil Lord & Chris Miller and featuring the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Liam Neeson, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, Charlie Day and Morgan Freeman. Mark Mothersbaugh who previously scored Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street for the directors has composed the film’s original music. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original song Everything Is AWESOME!!! by Tegan and Sara featuring The Lonely Island. Also opening wide is the historical drama The Monuments Men directed by George Clooney who also stars in the film alongside Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville and John Goodman. Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech, Argo, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) has composed the film’s original music and also has a cameo appearance in the movie. Sony Masterworks has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. Daniel Licht to Score Sundance Channel’s ‘The Red Road’

Daniel Licht has been hired to score the Sundance Channel’s upcoming original series The Red Road. The show is created by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners, Contraband) and stars Martin Henderson, Tom Sizemore, Jason Mamoa and Julianne Nicholson. The drama centers around a local sheriff struggling to keep his family together while simultaneously policing two clashing communities: the small town where he grew up and the neighboring mountains – home of a federally unrecognized Native American tribe. Guzikowski is also executive producing the project with Sarah Condon (Bored to Death, Looking) and Bridget Carpenter (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood). Hollywood Bowl Season Schedule Announced

The Hollywood Bowl has announced this summer’s season schedule, which includes a number of film music concerts. On July 18/19, Jack Black will be hosting DreamWorks Animation in Concert – Celebrating 20 Years, which will feature film clips from such films as How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar and more with their scores by composers including John Powell, Harry Gregson-Williams and Hans Zimmer performed live to picture. Jonny Greenwood Scoring Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Inherent Vice’

Film Music Reporter has confirmed that Jonny Greenwood is composing the music for Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming crime drama Inherent Vice. The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Josh Brolin, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson, Jena Malone, Martin Short and Maya Rudolph. The film based on the 2009 novel by Thomas Pynchon is set in 1960s Los Angeles and follows the drug-fueled detective Larry “Doc” Sportello as he investigates the case of a kidnapped girl. Anderson is also producing the project through his Ghoulardi Film Co. alongside JoAnne Sellar (Magnolia, Boogie Nights) and Daniel Lupi (There Will Be Blood). Nonesuch Records to Release Clint Mansell’s ‘Noah’ Soundtrack

Nonesuch Records will release the official soundtrack album for Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic Noah starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins and Logan Lerman. The album features the film’s original music composed by Clint Mansell (Black Swan, The Wrestler) who collaborated with the Kronos Quartet on his score. The label has previously released the soundtrack albums for Aronofsky’s Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain, both of which featured music by Mansell. The full album details and release date will be announced on this page within the next couple of weeks. Noah is set to be released nationwide on March 28, 2014 by Paramount Pictures. Deborah Lurie has recently recorded her score for the upcoming comedic thriller Murder of a Cat. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Gillian Greene and stars Fran Kranz, Nikki Reed, J.K. Simmons and Greg Kinnear. The movie follows a young man who discovers his dead cat was leading a double life with another owner. Christian Magalhaes & Robert Snow (New Girl) have written the Black List-honored screenplay. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Oz the Great and Powerful) is producing the project. ‘Non-Stop’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the thriller Non-Stop. The album features the film’s original score composed by John Ottman (The Usual Suspects, X2, The Fantastic Four) who previously collaborated with the movie’s director Jaume Collet-Serra on Unknown, Orphan and House of Wax. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 25, 2014 and physically on March 4 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Non-Stop is produced by Joel Silver and stars Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Anson Mount, Michellle Dockery and Corey Stoll. The movie is set during a transatlantic flight from New York City to London and follows a U.S. Air Marshal who receives a series of text messages demanding that he instruct the government to transfer $150 million into an off-shore account. Max Richter to Score HBO’s ‘The Leftovers’

Max Richter has signed on to score the upcoming HBO original series The Leftovers. The show is created by Damon Lindelof (Lost, Prometheus, Star Trek) and Tom Perrotta (Little Children, Election) and stars Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler and Ann Dowd. The series is based on Perotta’s book of the same title and takes place in the wake of a global “Rapture” and centers on the people who didn’t make the cut and are left behind in a suburban community. Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Lone Survivor) has directed the pilot episode. Lindelof, Perotta and Berg are also executive producing the Warner Bros.
