HBO announced today that Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready has composed the original score for the upcoming documentary Elvis Presley: The Searcher. The movie directed by Thom Zimny focuses on Elvis Presley the musical artist, taking the audience on a comprehensive creative journey from his childhood through the final 1976 Jungle Room recording sessions. ‘The Star’ Score Album to Be Released

Epic Records will release a score album for the animated feature The Star. The album features the film’s original music composed by John Paesano (Daredevil, Maze Runner series, Pacific Rim Uprising, The Defenders, All Eyez On Me). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 12 and will be available to download on Amazon. As previously announced, the label has also released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie, including the Golden Globe-nominated title track performed by Mariah Carey. John Williams confirmed in a recent interview with Variety that he will be returning to score the final installment in the third Star Wars trilogy. The currently untitled Episode IX will reunite him with director J.J. Abrams who previously helmed 2015’s The Force Awakens. Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac are set to star in the movie, which will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy. Tuomas Kantelinen has been hired to score the upcoming historical epic Swords and Sceptres. The film marks the directorial debut of Indian choreographer Swati Bhise and stars Rupert Everett, Derek Jacobi, Nathaniel Parker, Ben Lamb, Jodhi May and Devika Bhise who also co-wrote the screenplay with the director and Olivia Emden. The movie tells the story of Rani Lakshmibai, the Queen of Jhansi, who led her army against the East India Company in the 1857 Sepoy Mutiny.
