Illumination’s ‘The Grinch’ to Feature Original Song by Tyler, the Creator

Tyler, the Creator has written an original song for Illumination Entertainment’s animated feature The Grinch. The rapper/record producer is also performing the track, which is entitled I Am The Grinch. He also collaborated with the film’s composer Danny Elfman on a new version of the classic Grinch song You’re a Mean One. The Grinch is directed by Scott Mosier & Yarrow Cheney and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the cynical grump who goes on a mission to steal Christmas, only to have his heart changed by a young girl’s generous holiday spirit. Electronic music artist/DJ Deadmau5 announced on Twitter today that he is making his feature film scoring debut on the upcoming Netflix original movie Polar. The film is directed by Jonas Akerlund (Lords of Chaos) and stars Mads Mikkelsen, Vanessa Hudgens, Katheryn Winnick and Matt Lucas. The action thriller is based on the Dark Horse action noir graphic novel Polar: Came From the Cold by Victor Santoson and revolves around the world’s top assassin, Duncan Vizla, aka The Black Kaiser, who comes out of retirement to go head to head with an army of ruthless killers who will stop at nothing to have him silenced. Walt Disney Records will release the official soundtrack album for the movie musical Mary Poppins Returns. Marc Shaiman (A Few Good Men, Misery, The American President, Sister Act) & Scott Wittman (Hairspray) have composed the film’s original songs and Shaiman also wrote the original score. The soundtrack will be released on December 7, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1987 sci-fi family movie Batteries Not Included directed by Matthew Robbins, produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Hume Cronyn, Jessica Tandy, Frank McRae and Elizabeth Peña. The 2-CD set features the complete original score from the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment production composed and conducted by Academy Award winner James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, The Amazing Spider-Man), as well as the content of the original 1987 soundtrack album. The track list of the soundtrack album for the superhero movie Venom has been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ludwig Goransson (Black Panther, Creed, Fruitvale Station, Community, Death Wish). The soundtrack is expected to be released digitally on October 5, 2018 by Sony Classical. A physical version will also be released overseas later in October and will be available for pre-order on Amazon within the next few days.
