Four new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi action thriller The Predator directed by Shane Black and starring Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown and Yvonne Strahovski. The film’s original music is composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, Wreck-It-Ralph, X-Men: First Class). Also opening wide is the thriller A Simple Favor directed by Paul Feig and starring Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Linda Cardellini, Jean Smart and Rupert Friend. Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me, Tropic Thunder, Ghostbusters, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) has composed the film’s original score. This week, Max Richter has been recording his score for the upcoming German period drama Werk ohne Autor. The film is directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others, The Tourist) and stars Tom Schilling, Sebastian Koch, Paula Bee, Saskia Rosendahl, Oliver Masucci, Bastian Trost and Lars Eidinger. The movie is inspired by the real life of German painter Gerhard Richter and follows an artist who flees from East Germany to West Germany but is still haunted by his experiences under both the Nazi and communist dictatorships. 
Max Richter has been hired to score the upcoming historical drama Mary, Queen of Scots. The film is marks the directorial debut of Josie Rourke, artistic director of The Donmar Warehouse, and stars Saoirse Ronan in the title role, alongside Margot Robbie as Elizabeth I. David Tennant, Guy Pearce, Jack Lowden, Martin Compston, Joe Alwyn and Brendan Coyle are co-starring. The movie is based on John Guy’s biography My Heart is My Own: The Life of Mary Queen of Scots and explores the turbulent life of the charismatic Mary Stuart. Beau Willimon (The Ides of March, House of Cards) wrote the screenplay. 
Already playing in theaters since Wednesday is the action adventure comedy Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle directed by Jake Kasdan and starring Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas and Bobby Cannavale. The film’s original music is composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, Big Hero 6, Kong: Skull Island, Wreck-It-Ralph, X-Men: First Class). Also now playing is the movie musical The Greatest Showman directed by Michael Gracey and starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya. Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen) have written the film’s original songs and John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, The Jungle Book) & Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, Straight Outta Compton) have composed the movie’s original score. Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs performed by the film’s cast. 
The full details of the soundtrack album for the western Hostiles have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Taboo, Waltz with Bashir, Miss Sloane, Disconnect). Also included is the original song How Shall a Sparrow Fly written and performed by Ryan Bingham. The soundtrack is set to be released on CD on February 9, 2018 by Deutsche Grammophon and can be pre-ordered on 
Max Richter is currently recording his score for the upcoming drama White Boy Rick. The film is directed by Yann Demange (’71) and stars Matthew McConaughey, Richie Merritt, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rory Cochrane, Brian Tyree Henry, Bruce Dern, R.J. Cyler, Kyanna Simone Simpson and Bel Powley. The movie is set in 1980s Detroit at the height of the crack epidemic and tells the true story of Ricky Wershe who became an undercover informant at the age of 14 before becoming a major dealer – until he was arrested at age 17. Logan & Noah Miller (Sweetwater) wrote the screenplay with revisions by Andy Weiss (Middle Men), Scott Silver (The Fighter, 8 Mile) and Steve Kloves (Harry Potter series, The Amazing Spider-Man). 
Decca Classics will release a soundtrack album for the FX and BBC One original series Taboo. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Waltz with Bashir, Disconnect, Miss Sloane) who received his first Emmy Award nomination for his work on the project. The soundtrack is set to be released physically on September 15, 2017 and is now available as an import on 
Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the drama Return to Montauk. The album features the film’s original music composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Waltz with Bashir, Taboo, Miss Sloane, Disconnect). Also included are pieces by Thomas Bartlett, The Cian Boylan Trio, Kila, Bronagh Gallagher and The Eder Quartet. The soundtrack is now available to download on
