Mark Isham is composing the music for the upcoming fantasy romance Fallen. The film is directed by Scott Hicks (Shine, Snow Falling on Cedars, Hearts in Atlantis) and stars Addison Timlin, Jeremy Irvine, Harrison Gilbertson and Joely Richardson. The movie is based on the YA novel by Lauren Kate and follows a shy teen who is suspected of killing a boy and is sent to Sword and Cross reform school, where she is confronted by frequent supernatural occurrences and it becomes clear that the majority of students are fallen angels on the side of good or evil. Mark Ciardi & Gordon Gray (The Rookie, Million Dollar Arm) are producing the project for Mayhem Pictures, alongside Bill Johnson & Jim Seibel (The Women, Just Friends) for Lotus Entertainment.

Mark Isham to Score Gina Prince-Bythewood’s ‘Blackbird’
Mark Isham has been hired to score the upcoming drama Blackbird. The film is written and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball) and stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Nate Parker, Minnie Driver, Colson “MGK” Baker and Danny Glover. The movie follows an award-winning artist who is primed for superstardom. The pressures of success compel her to nearly end her life until she is saved by a young police officer. Stephanie Allain (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan), Reggie Rock Bythewood, Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter, Limitless) and Amar’e Stoudemire are producing the project. Isham has previously collaborated with the director on the 2008 drama The Secret Lies of Bees starring Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson & Queen Latifah.

Premiering on Wednesday, December 4, is the new TNT original series Mob City created by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Walking Dead) and starring Jon Bernthal, Ed Burns, Neal McDonough and Jeremy Luke. The drama’s original score is composed by Mark Isham (Once Upon a Time, Crash) who has previously collaborated with Darabont on the features The Majestic and The Mist. The show is based on the real-life accounts of the cops and gangsters of Los Angeles in the 1940s and tells the story of the violent crime underbelly of America’s most glamorous city and those who wanted to control it. Opening nationwide this holiday weekend after a 5-day exclusive engagement at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre is Disney’s animated feature Frozen directed by Jennifer Lee & Chris Buck and featuring the voice talent of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, Santino Fontana, Alan Tudyk and Ciarán Hinds. Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez have written the film’s original songs and Christophe Beck (The Muppets, The Hangover) has composed the original score. Also opening wide is the action thriller Homefront directed by Gary Fleder and starring Jason Statham, James Franco, Winona Ryder, Frank Grillo, Kate Bosworth and Rachelle Lefevre. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time) who has previously collaborated with the director several times, including on such films as Kiss the Girls, Don’t Say a Word and The Express. No soundtrack album has been announced yet. Homefront centers on a former drug enforcement agent and family man who moves off the grid with his daughter to a seemingly quiet bayou backwater to escape his troubled past. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the docudrama Captain Phillips directed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, United 93) and starring Tom Hanks, Catherine Keener, Barkhad Abdi, Barkhad Abdirahman, Faysal Ahmed, Mahat M. Ali, Michael Chernus, Corey Johnson and Max Martini. The film’s music is composed by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Wreck-It-Ralph). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album for the film featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. The film’s music is composed by Rodriguez himself and Carl Thiel (Grindhouse: Planet Terror, Shorts). Mark Isham who is also scoring ABC’s Once Upon a Time, which recently had its third season premiere, is composing the music for the show. ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 2 Soundtrack Announced
Intrada Records has announced the details of a new soundtrack album for ABC’s hit series Once Upon a Time. The album features highlights from the original score from the show’s second season composed by Mark Isham (Crash, A River Runs Through It, 42). The soundtrack is now available to order on Intrada’s official website, where you can also listen to audio clips. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring selections of Isham’s score for the first season. Once Upon a Time is created by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and stars Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Robert Carlyle, Lana Parrilla and Josh Dallas. The second season is also being released today, August 13, on Blu-ray and DVD and the third season is set to premiere on September 29, 2013 on ABC.
‘The Conjuring’ Soundtrack Preview
Audio clips from the soundtrack album of James Wan’s horror thriller The Conjuring have surfaced online. Mark Isham to Score ABC’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Wonderland’
Mark Isham has been tapped to score the upcoming ABC series Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. The show is a spin-off of the network’s hit drama Once Upon a Time, which Isham has been scoring for the past two years and recently aired its second season finale. Wonderland is written and executive produced by the original show creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Lost) and follows the adventures of a mature Alice as she goes back down the rabbit hole to battle Red Queens and psychologists to find her true love. The show stars Sophie Lowe as Alice, Michael Socha as Knave of Hearts, Peter Gadiot as Cyrus, Emma Rigby as Queen of Hearts and John Lithgow as the voice of the White Rabbit.
