Warner Music will release a soundtrack album for the Spanish romantic drama Palm Trees in the Snow (Palmeras en la niece). The album features the film’s original music composed by Lucas Vidal (Fast & Furious 6, The Raven, The Cold Light of Day, The Quiet Ones) who recorded his score at Abbey Road Studios in London. Also included is the original title song co-written by the composer and performed by Pablo Alborán, as well songs by Yolanda Eyama and Brigitte Emaga. The soundtrack will be released overseas on December 18, 2015. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD. Palm Trees in the Snow is directed by Fernando González and stars Mario Casas, Adriana Ugarte, Berta Vázquez, Macarena García and Emilio Gutiérrez Caba. The movie written by Sergio Sanchez (The Impossible, The Orphanage) and is set in the last days of the Spanish colonies in Africa and centers on a star-crossed love, with the consequences of that love reaching into the 21st century.

‘Tracers’ Soundtrack Released
Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album for the action thriller Tracers. The album features the film’s original music composed by Lucas Vidal (Fast & Furious 6, The Raven, The Quiet Ones, The Cold Light of Day). Also included are tracks by La Font, Junkie XL and Kilon Tek. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Tracers is directed by Daniel Benmayor and stars Taylor Lautner, Marie Avgeropoulos, Adam Rayner and Rafi Gavron. The movie follows a New York City bike messenger who is in debt to an organized crime gang and escapes into the world of parkour after meeting a beautiful stranger.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the second part in the Divergent series, Insurgent directed by Robert Schwentke and starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Octavia Spencer, Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Naomi Watts and Kate Winslet. Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, Earth to Echo) has composed the film’s original score. Interscope Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by such artists as M83 feat. Haim, Imagine Dragons, Royal Blood, Woodkid feat. Lykke Li, Anna Calvi, SOHN and Zella Day, as well as a score suite. Click here for the full details. Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi thriller Chappie co-written and directed by Neill Blomkamp and starring Dev Patel, Hugh Jackman, Ninja and Yo-Landi Visser, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Sigourney Weaver and Sharlto Copley. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, Inception). Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score and additional music by Steve Mazzaro & Andrew Kawczynski digitally next Tuesday and physically on March 17. ‘Kidnapping Mr. Heineken’ Soundtrack Details
Metropolis Movie Music will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Kidnapping Mr. Heineken. The album features the film’s original music composed by Lucas Vidal (Fast & Furious 6, The Raven, The Quiet Ones, The Cold Light of Day). The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 6, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. Kidnapping Mr. Heineken is directed by Daniel Alfredson and stars Anthony Hopkins, Jim Sturgess, Sam Worthington and Ryan Kwanten. The movie chronicles the 1983 kidnapping of Dutch beer magnate Freddy Heineken and his driver Ab Doderer who were released after payment of a record ransom of 35 million Dutch guilders.
Lucas Vidal to Score Isabel Coixet’s ‘Nobody Wants the Night’
Lucas Vidal has been hired to score the upcoming drama Nobody Wants the Night. The film is directed by Isabel Coixet (Elegy, The Secret Life of Words, My Life Without Me) and stars Juliette Binoche, Rinko Kikuchi and Gabriel Byrne. The movie follows two women from two different worlds who are struggling to survive in one of the most inhospitable places on Earth in early 1900s Greenland and chronicles their long, tense wait for the same man they love. Miguel Barros (Blackthorn) has written the screenplay. Andrés Santana (Blackthorn) is producing the project with Antonia Nava (The Machinist, Transsiberia) for Aiete-Ariane Films.

Lucas Vidal and Chris Ramsdell Launch Music House for Motion Picture Advertising Chroma
Music and Motion Productions’ Lucas Vidal and music supervisor Chris Ramsdell have teamed up to launch Chroma, a new music house for motion picture advertising. The project is a collaboration between Vidal, the composer of such films as Fast & Furious 6, The Raven, The Quiet Ones and The Cold Light of Day and Ramsdell who has placed music in such campaigns as The Hunger Games, Django Unchained, Transformers and The Hobbit and who serves as the company’s creative director. Chroma kickstarts its sonic enterprise with a 65-track showcase album, which was recorded with a 50-piece choir, full string orchestra, 20-piece brass section and 12 french horns. Opening in most theaters is the comedy The Other Woman directed by Nick Cassavetes and starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kate Upton, Taylor Kinney and Nicki Minaj. Aaron Zigman (Bridge to Tarabithia, The Proposal) who previously collaborated with the directors on such movies as John Q, The Notebook and My Sister’s Keeper has composed the film’s original score. Ibero-American Film Industry Launches Platino Awards
This past Saturday, the first Platino Ibero-American Film Awards were held Saturday in Panama City. In the Best Original Score category, Emilio Kauderer was honored for his music for the animated feature Foosball directed by Juan Jose Campanella, which was recently picked up by the Weinstein Company for a domestic release this summer under the title Underdogs. Composer Lucas Vidal (Fast & Furious 6, The Quiet Ones) and Grammy-nominated singer and actress Natalia Oreiro presented the music category. Vidal also composed the award show’s music, which he recorded earlier this year at Abbey Road Studios in London. Check out a video from the recording sessions after the jump.
