Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the crime comedy Gambit in the U.S. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rolfe Kent (Sideways, About Schmidt, Labor Day, Mean Girls), as well as original songs by Robby Armstrong. Also included are songs by Peggy Lee and Moe Brandy. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 13, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. The album has previously been released in select stores overseas when the movie opened in the UK. Gambit directed by Michael Hoffman and stars Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz, Alan Rickman, Stanley Tucci and Cloris Leachman. Joel & Ethan Coen (Fargo, No Country for Old Men) have written the screenplay. The movie opened in select theaters and was also released last month by CBS Films.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (April 25, 2014)
Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy The Other Woman directed by Nick Cassavetes and starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kate Upton, Taylor Kinney and Nicki Minaj. Aaron Zigman (Bridge to Tarabithia, The Proposal) who previously collaborated with the directors on such movies as John Q, The Notebook and My Sister’s Keeper has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide this weekend is the horror thriller The Quiet Ones directed by John Pogue and starring Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Erin Richards, Rory Fleck-Byrne and Olivia Cooke. The film’s original music is composed and performed by Lucas Vidal (Fast & Furious 6, The Raven). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by The Noizeby Slade and T.Rex and three original Radio Caroline jingles from the 70s. Rolfe Kent to Score ‘Gambit’
Rolfe Kent has signed on to score the crime comedy Gambit. The movie is directed by Michael Hoffman and stars Colin Firth as a London art curator who enlists a Texas rodeo queen, played by Cameron Diaz, in a scheme to con the richest men of Canada. Stanley Tucci, Alan Richman, Cloris Leachman and Sir Tom Courtenay are co-starring. The screenplay for the remake of the 1966 film with the same title starring Michael Caine and Shirley McQueen is written by Joel and Ethan Coen. Mike Lobell (Tears of the Sun), Adam Ripp and Rob Paris (Dirty Girl) are producing the project.
