B Original has released new digital albums/EPs for three scores by composer Philippe Rombi (Swimming Pool, Joyeux Noel, Angel, The Crime Is Mine, Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion, Driving Madeleine) for films directed by François Ozon, all of which are available to stream in the U.S. for the first time. Titles include 2013’s Young & Beautiful (Jeune & Jolie) starring Marine Vacth, Géraldine Pailhas, Frédéric Pierrot & Charlotte Rampling, 2014’s The New Girlfriend (Une nouvelle amie) starring Romain Duris, Anaïs Demoustier, Raphaël Personnaz & Isild Le Besco, as well as 2012’s In the House (Dans la maison) starring Fabrice Luchini, Kristin Scott Thomas, Emmanuelle Seigner, Ernst Umhauer & Denis Ménochet. Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy The Other Woman directed by Nick Cassavetes and starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kate Upton, Taylor Kinney and Nicki Minaj. Aaron Zigman (Bridge to Tarabithia, The Proposal) who previously collaborated with the directors on such movies as John Q, The Notebook and My Sister’s Keeper has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide this weekend is the horror thriller The Quiet Ones directed by John Pogue and starring Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Erin Richards, Rory Fleck-Byrne and Olivia Cooke. The film’s original music is composed and performed by Lucas Vidal (Fast & Furious 6, The Raven). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by The Noizeby Slade and T.Rex and three original Radio Caroline jingles from the 70s. Soundtrack Details for Francois Ozon’s ‘Young & Beautiful’
The details of the soundtrack album for Francois Ozon’s drama Young & Beautiful (Jeune et jolie) have been revealed. The soundtrack features the film’s original score composed by Philippe Rombi who has previously worked with the director on such films as Swimming Pool, Angel, In the House and Potiche. Also included are the songs featured in the film by Françoise Hardy, M83, Crystal Castles, The Citizens and Poni Hoax. The soundtrack will be released in France both physically and digitally on August 19, 2013 (visit Amazon to order the CD as an import). No word yet on a domestic release. Young & Beautiful written and directed by Ozon and starring Marine Vacth, Charlotte Rampling, Géraldine Pailhas, Frédéric Pierrot, Fantin Ravat and Johan Leisen tells the story of young woman coming of age from her sexual awakening to the loss of her virginity, and from her exploration of love to her search for her identity. The drama premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be released in France on August 21.
Philippe Rombi Scoring Francois Ozon’s ‘Young & Beautiful’
Philippe Rombi is reuniting with director Francois Ozon on the upcoming French drama Young & Beautiful (Jeune et jolie). The movie is written and directed by Ozon and stars Marine Vacth, Charlotte Rampling, Géraldine Pailhas, Frédéric Pierrot, Fantin Ravat and Johan Leisen. No specific plot details have been revealed yet, but the film has been described as a “contemporary portrait of a teenage girl of 17, in 4 seasons and 4 songs”. Eric & Nicolas Altmayer are producing the project. Rombi and Ozon have previously collaborated numerous times, including on such films as Swimming Pool, Angel and Potiche, as well as on the recent thriller In the House, which just opened in select U.S. cities this weekend. Young & Beautiful is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month and is scheduled to be released on August 21, 2013 in France.
