Jeff Rona is composing the score for the upcoming TNT original series Claws. The show is created by Eliot Laurence (Welcome to Me) and stars Niecy Nash, Carrie Preston, Harold Perrineau, Jenn Lyon, Judy Reyes, Jack Kesy, Karrueche Tran, Kevin Rankin and Jason Antoon. The comedy drama chronicles the rise of five diverse and treacherous manicurists working at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon in South Florida. Rashida Jones & Will McCormack (Celeste & Jesse Forever) are executive producing the project for La Train Train, alongside showrunner Janine Sherman Barrois (Criminal Minds, ER).

‘Veeram’ Soundtrack Details
Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the Indian historical drama Veeram. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jeff Rona (White Squall, Exit Wounds, Traffic, Chicago Hope). Also included is the original song We Will Rise written by the composer and performed by Kari Kimmel. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, January 27 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is coming out a week later and is available as an import here. Veeram is directed by Jayaraj and stars Kunal Kapoor, Divina Thakur, Shivajith Nambiar, Aaran, Himarsha Venkatsami and Satheesh Menon. The movie is based on William Shakespeare’s Macbeth and tells the story of Chandu Chekavar, an infamous warrior in the 13th century North Malabar.

Premiering tomorrow, March 9, is the A&E original series The Returned created by Carlton Cuse & Raelle Tucker based on the French series Les Revenants and starring Mark Pellegrino, Tandi Wright, India Ennenga, Sophie Lowe, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jeremy Sisto, Kevin Alejandro, Agnes Bruckner and Sandrine Holt. The show’s original music is composed by Jeff Russo (Fargo, CSI: Cyber, Power) and cellist Zoe Keating. The Returned is set in a small town that is turned upside down when several local people who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear. The drama will air every Monday night on A&E. Premiering tonight in the U.S. is the BBC mini-series The Escape Artist created and written by David Wolstencroft and starring David Tennant, Toby Kebbell, Sophie Okonedo and Ashley Jensen. The drama’s music is composed by Nicholas Hooper (Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince). The two-parter about a talented junior barrister who specializes in spiriting people out of tight legal corners will air as part of PBS’ Masterpiece series tonight and on June 22. Syfy’s ‘Dominion’ to Feature Music by Christopher Young and Jeff Rona
Christopher Young has composed the music for the pilot of the new Syfy original series Dominion. Jeff Rona is currently scoring the other episodes of the first season of the show created by Scott Stewart and starring Christopher Egan, Tom Wisdom, Roxanne McKee, Alan Dale, Anthony Stewart Head and Luke Allen-Gale. The supernatural action drama is based on characters from Stewart’s 2010 film Legion and is set 25 years after the events of the movie and picking up in the aftermath of a catastrophic war between an army of angels and mankind that has transformed the world.

Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the dramatic thriller Prisoners directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Maria Bello, Terrance Howard, Viola Davis, Melissa Leo and Paul Dano. Jóhann Jóhannsson (Personal Effects, For Ellen) has composed the film’s score. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. The film’s original score is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Revolution, Identity Thief). Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album for the film earlier this week. The album features a suite from the composer’s score, as well as the songs featured in the movie by such artists as The Roots, Chubb Rock, Kool Kojak, Speedometer, Digital Underground and PC’s Ltd. ‘Generation Iron’ Soundtrack Announced
Milan Records has announced a soundtrack album for the documentary Generation Iron. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jeff Rona (White Squall, Chicago Hope, Phantom). Also featured is the opening and closing title song Never Gonna Stop by Mind the Gap and Solardrive & TC’s Some Say. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 24, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Generation Iron is directed by Vlad Yudin and examines the professional sport of bodybuilding today through portraying lives of the top 7 bodybuilders (including Phil Heath, Kai Greene, Branch Warren and Dennis Wolf) in the sport as they train to compete in the world’s most premiere bodybuilding stage—Mr. Olympia. Mickey Rourke is narrating the film and Arnold Schwarzenegger also appears in the documentary, which is set to be released in select cities this Friday, September 20 by The Vladar Company.

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Phantom. The album features the film’s original score composed by Jeff Rona (White Squall, Chicago Hope), as well as the original song An Ocean Away performed by Rachel Fannan. The soundtrack will be released on February 26, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Phantom is written and directed by Todd Robinson (Lonely Hearts) and stars Ed Harris, David Duchovny, William Fichtner, Sean Patrick Flanery and Lance Henriksen. The movie about a Captain of a Soviet submarine who has to leave his pregnant wife for a secret mission on which he is forced to face his past in order to find redemption in the present while being challenged by a rogue KGB group. The film will be released in theaters on March 1, 2013 by RCR Distribution.

Jeff Rona is scoring the upcoming Cold War-set submarine thriller Phantom. The movie is written and directed by Todd Robinson (Lonely Hearts) and stars Ed Harris, David Duchovny, William Fichtner, Sean Patrick Flanery and Lance Henriksen. The movie revolves around a Captain of a Soviet submarine who has to leave his pregnant wife for a secret mission on which he is forced to face his past in order to find redemption in the present while being challenged by a rogue KGB group. John Watson & Pen Densham (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Backdraft) amd Julian Adams are producing the project. Robinson has previously written the screenplay for Ridley Scott’s White Squall, which marked Rona’s first major studio feature scoring assignment.
