The details of the soundtrack album for the German event series Black Gold (Schwarzes Gold) have been revealed. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Dune, Gladiator, Inception, Interstellar, Pirates of the Caribbean) and Aleksey Igudesman. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 19 by Sony Classical and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The label has previously released the original song In Oil We Trust written by Zimmer & Igudesman and performed by Ekaterina Shehelova earlier this month. Hans Zimmer & Aleksey Igudesman Scoring ‘Black Gold’ TV Series
Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Inception, Dune, Gladiator, Interstellar).has teamed up with violinist Aleksey Igudesman to compose the music for the upcoming German TV series Black Gold (Schwarzes Gold). The show is created by Justin Koch & Matthias Greving and stars Harriet Herbig-Matten, Aaron Hilmer, Tom Wlaschiha, Gwendoline Christie, Marton Csokas, Merlin Sandmeyer, Lena Urzendowsky, Jessica Schwarz, Henny Reents, Slavko Popadić and Liliom Lewald. The 6-part drama is set in a fictional village at the turn of the 20th Century and tells the story of a farmer’s daughter whose family is cheated by a rich landowner over the oil discovered under their fields and – when the oil rush hits the village – threatens to destroy her farming community forever.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the fantasy adventure Jack the Giant Slayer directed by Bryan Singer and starring Nicholas Hoult, Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, Bill Nighy and Ewan McGregor. The film’s music is composed by John Ottman (X2, The Usual Suspects, The Fantastic Four) who also edited the movie and served as an associate producer. ‘Black Gold’ Soundtrack Details
Varese Sarabande has revealed the details of the soundtrack album for Jean-Jacques Annaud’s epic drama Black Gold. The album includes the original music from the film composed by James Horner who collaborated with the director before on The Name of the Rose and Enemy at the Gates. The album will be released on February 14, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Black Gold starring Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Tahar Rahim, Freida Pinto and Liya Kebede tells the story of the rivalry between two Emirs in Arabia in the 1930’s just as oil is being discovered. The film opened in France last November and is being released in other European markets over the next couple of weeks. No domestic distribution deal and release date have been announced yet.

Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album for the epic drama Black Gold. The album features the original score from the movie by James Horner and marks the composer’s first new release since 2010’s The Karate Kid. The soundtrack will be released on February 7, 2012 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for the full album details in a few weeks. As previously reported, the music was recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios and Horner worked with Quatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi on the picture’s opening track. Black Gold is directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud and stars Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Tahar Rahim, Freida Pinto and Liya Kebede. The movie premiered at the Doha Film Festival in October and has already been released in a couple of countries, including France in the last couple of weeks. The soundtrack release coincides with the release of the film in the UK and Germany among other European countries.
Fahad Al Kubaisi Collaborating with James Horner on ‘Black Gold’
Some new details about the music for Jean-Jacques Annaud’s upcoming adventure movie Black Gold have surfaced today. As reported a few months ago, James Horner has written the score for the film. The music was recorded last month at Abbey Road Studios in London. The National is reporting that Quatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi worked with Horner on the picture’s opening track, which is supposed to reflect the mood of the soldiers in the film as they prepare for war. He also recorded a traditional Bedouin song with Qatari composer Abdulla Al Mannai. Black Gold tells the story of the rivalry between two Emirs in Arabia in the 1930’s just as oil is being discovered.
James Horner to Score ‘Black Gold’
James Horner has signed on to write the music for the epic adventure Black Gold. The film is directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud who has previously collaborated with Horner on the 1986 thriller The Name of the Rose starring Sean Connery and the 2001 war drama Enemy at the Gates. Black Gold is based on the classic novel The Great Thirst by Hans Reuschand and tells the story of the rivalry between two Emirs in Arabia in the 1930’s just as oil is being discovered, and the rise of a young, dynamic leader who unites the various tribes of the desert kingdoms. The film stars Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Tahar Rahim, Freida Pinto and Liya Kebede.
