Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for Orson Welles’ 1965 drama Chimes at Midnight (Falstaff) starring the director himself, Jeanne Moureau, Margaret Rutherford, Fernando Rey, John Gielgud and Alan Webb. The 2-CD set features the expanded and remastered original music from the film composed by Angelo Francesco Lavagnino (Lost Continent, An American in New York, Othello, The Naked Maja), including the restored original 1966 soundtrack album on the first disc and the complete score on the second disc. Premiering tonight is the AMC original series Kevin Can F**k Himself created by Valerie Armstrong and starring Annie Murphy, Eric Petersen, Mary Hollis Inboden, Brian Howe, Raymond Lee and Alex Bonifer. The show’s original music is composed by Keegan DeWitt (Hearts Beat LoudA Teacher, I’ll See You in My Dreams,  Gemini, DivorceHer SmellThe Hero). MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album for the Chinese romantic crime thriller Better Days (Shaonian de ni). The album features the film’s original music composed by Varqa Buehrer. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Better Days is directed by Derek Kwok-Cheung Tsang and stars Zhou Dongyu and Jackson Yee. The movie, which was nominated as the Hong Kong entry in the Best International Feature category at last year’s Academy Awards, follows a woman who finds her life at a standstill when faced by relentless bullying from her peers as she prepares for her college entrance exam and gets dragged into the middle of a murder investigation that will change her life forever. Disney+ announced this week that Vincent Artaud is scoring the upcoming animated series Chip ‘n’ Dale: Park Life. The show is executive produced by Marc du Pontavice (I Lost My Body, Close Enemies) and features the voices of Matthew Géczy, Kaycie Chase, Bill Farmer, Sylvain Caruso, David Gasman and Cindy Lee Delong. The animated comedy follows two tiny troublemakers, Chip and Dale, in their perpetual pursuit of acorns, who are joined by Pluto, Butch and other iconic Disney characters as they face down bullies great and small. The only new movie opening in theaters nationwide this week is the action comedy Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard directed by Patrick Hughes and starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek, Antonio Banderas, Morgan Freeman, Frank Grillo, Caroline Goodall, Rebecca Front,  Gabriella Wrigh and Richard E. Grant. The the film’s original music is composed by Atli Örvarsson (Defending Jacob, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Vantage PointThe Edge of Seventeen, The Eagle, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga). Opening in around 500 theaters is the documentary The Sparks Brothers directed by Edgar Wright about brothers/bandmates Ron and Russell Mael and their overlooked rock band Sparks. The film’s doesn’t feature an original score. Gary Welch serves as the project’s music supervisor. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack EP featuring three songs by the band from their 2018 London performance, as well  alyric read by Neil Gaiman today. Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: RagnarokThe LEGO Movie, 21/22 Jump StreetCloudy with a Chance of MeatballsThe Royal Tenenbaums) is returning as the composer of the upcoming animated sequel Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. The film is directed by Jennifer Kluska & Derek Drymon (The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Adventure Time) and features the voices of Selena Gomez (who also serves as an executive producer), Andy Samberg, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Brian Hull, Brad Abrell, Asher Blinkoff, Fran Drescher, Jim Gaffigan and Molly Shannon. The final chapter in the film series follows Drac and his monster pals as the are all transformed into humans, and Johnny becomes a monster. MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album for the South African horror fantasy drama Gaia. The album features the film’s original music composed by Pierre-Henri Wicomb (Waterfront, Die Spreeus). Music.Film Recordings & Lakeshore Records will release a score album for the action thriller The Ice Road. The album features the film’s original score composed by Max Aruj (Crawl, iBoyMe You Madness, Lansky, The Abandoned). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, June 25 and is now available for pre-order here. As previously reported, Big Machine Records will release a separate album featuring songs from and inspired by the movie. The Ice Road is directed by Jonathan Hensleigh and stars Liam Neeson, Laurence Fishburne, Benjamin Walker, Ray McKinnon, Marcus Thomas and Amber Midthunder. The movie follows takes place after the collapse of a diamond mine in northern Canada and follows two ice road truckers on a race against the clock, before the ice thaws and the miners are trapped. David Labovitch has released a soundtrack album for the horror comedy Dementia Part II. The album features the composer’s original music from the film and is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Dementia Part II is written and directed by Matt Mercer & Mike Testin and stars Mercer himself, Graham Skipper, Najarra Townsend and Suzanne Voss. The movie revolves around an ex-con who takes a job as a handyman for an unstable elderly woman to avoid a parole violation, a choice he may regret. The comedy, which screened at various film festivals, including Cinepocalypse, London FrightFest & Sitges, was released in select theaters last month by Dark Star Pictures & Bloody Disgusting and is now also available on VOD and DVD.
