Already playing in select theaters since this past Wednesday, December 29, is the drama Jockey co-written and directed by Clint Bentley and starring Clifton Collins Jr., Molly Parker, Moises Arias, Logan Cormier, Colleen Hartnett. The film’s original music is composed by The National’s Bryce Dessner (The Two Popes, The Kitchen) & Aaron Dessner (Cyrano, C’mon C’mon). No soundtrack album has been announced yet. Opening at New York’s Paris Theatre today before coming out in more theaters in early January and before premiering on Netflix on January 21, is the spy thriller Munich: The Edge of War directed by Christian Schwochow and starring George MacKay, Jeremy Irons, Jannis Niehwöhner, Sandra Hüller, August Diehl, Liv Lisa Fries, Erin Doherty and Martin Wuttke. Composer George Fenton (Dangerous LiaisonsGroundhog Day, The Blue Planet, Anna and the King, Hitch) is reuniting with director Richard Eyre (Notes on a Scandal, Iris) on the upcoming British comedy drama Allelujah. The film is based on the stage play of the same name by Alan Bennett and stars Jennifer Saunders, Judi Dench, Derek Jacobi, Bally Gill, Russell Tovey and David Bradley. The movie is set on a geriatric ward in Yorkshire that is on the verge of closure and and follows the hospital’s attempts to fight back by inviting a news crew to film their preparations for a concert in honor of the place’s most distinguished nurse. The album features the film’s original music composed by Paul Leonard Morgan (LimitlessDreddDynasty, Tales from the Loop, WormwoodWalking with Dinosaurs 3D). The full details of the first soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Emily in Paris have been revealed. The album features the songs from the second season performed by Ashley Park (who stars as Mindy Chen), including the original song Mon Soleil, which has previously been released as a digital single, as well as tracks by The Math Club, L’Epee, Yndi, Kumisolo, PLUM & Fred Nevche. Also included is the main title theme James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, King Kong, The Sixth Sense, Maleficent), as well as selections of the comedy’s original score by Chris Alan Lee (Younger, Heathers). The movie is directed by Tom Dey (Shanghai Noon, Failure to Launch) and stars Suraj Sharma, Pallavi Sharda, Rizwan Manji, Sean Kleiner and Ari Asfar. The romantic comedy follows two Indian-Americans who pretend to date in order to survive a summer of weddings, but find themselves falling for each other as they struggle to balance who they are with who their parents want them to be.
