Nainita Desai (Nautilus, For Sama, The Deepest Breath, The Tower, The Reason I Jump, Funny Woman, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, The Tower, Crossfire, Secrets of the Penguins) has composed the original score for the new BBC drama The Split Up. The show’s story and characters are created by Ursula Rani Sarma (Delicious) based on the 2018 series The Split (created by Abi Morgan and scored by Isobel Waller-Bridge & Evan Jolly) and stars Ritu Arya, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Aysha Kala, Arian Nik, Dimitri Leonidas, Danny Ashok, Mawaan Rizwan, Shalini Peiris, Sindhu Vee and Tom Forbes. The 6-part series is set in the charged world of Manchester’s high net worth divorce circuit and revolves around a powerhouse British South Asian family firm, and the go-to for the city’s elite.

‘The Split: Barcelona’ Soundtrack EP Released
Cherry Bang has released a soundtrack EP for the BBC drama special The Split: Barcelona. The 4-track EP features the original songs from the 2-parter written and performed by Olivia Broadfield. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Also listen to all four songs after the jump. A CD version will be released in the UK on January 31. The Split: Barcelona is written by Abi Morgan, directed by Giulia Gandini and stars Nicola Walker, Toby Stephens, Manu Fullola and Romina Cocca. The special (scored by Evan Jolly) is set two years after the events from the finale of the original series and follows family lawyer Hannah Defoe attending a wedding at a vineyard, nestled in Catalonia’s wine region with her family, where she is compelled to banish the ghosts of her past and open herself up to the possibility of love again.
Soundtrack Album for BBC’s ‘The Split’ Released
Silva Screen Records has released the first soundtrack album for the BBC series The Split. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s second and third seasons composed by Evan Jolly (Agatha Raisin, Midsomer Murders), as well as the composer’s main titles theme. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio samples. Premiering in the U.S. on Wednesday, May 23, is the British mini-series The Split created and written by Abi Morgan, directed by Jessica Hobbs and starring Nicola Walker, Meera Syal, Stephen Mangan, Fiona Button, Deborah Findlay and Anthony Head. The show’s original music is composed by Isobel Waller-Bridge (Fleabag). The drama centers on a family of female divorce lawyers who are forced to face their past following the return of their estranged father after a 30 year absence.
