Zbigniew Preisner (When a Man Loves a Woman, Three Colors, The Secret Garden, The Queen of SpainBetween StrangersDekalog) has composed the original music for the new French/Belgian/Italian drama Parallel Tales (Histoires Parallèles). The film is directed by Asghar Farhadi (A Hero, The Salesman) and stars Isabelle Huppert, Virginie Efira, Vincent Cassel, Pierre Niney and Catherine Deneuve. The movie revolves around an author who is seeking inspiration for her new novel by secretly spying on her neighbors across the street, but when she hires a young man to help with everyday chores, her observations bring unexpected consequences to her and her neighbors’ lives. Farhadi also co-wrote the screenplay with Saeed Farhadi and is producing the project with Gaëtan David, David Levine (Nickel Boys, Remarkably Bright Creatures), André Logie, Alexandre Mallet-Guy (Eagles of the Republic) and Andrea Occhipinti. Parallel Tales is premiering this Thursday at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and will also be released in French theaters this weekend.
