Mike Shinoda has announced on his official website that a soundtrack album for the Indonesian martial arts action film The Raid: Redemption will be released this week. The album features the film’s original score written by the Linkin Park member and Joseph Trapanese (who is best known for his collaboration with Daft Punk on Tron:Legacy), as well as the song Razors.Out featuring vocals by Chino from Deftones. The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 20, 2012 and is available to download on iTunes. A CD version is coming out next month and is available to pre-order exclusively on the official soundtrack website, where you can also check out audio previews of the score. The Raid: Redemption is directed by Gareth Huw Evans and centers on a SWAT team that infiltrates and attempts to take over an apartment complex acting as a safe house for a drug lord. John Frizzell Scoring ‘The Loft’

John Frizzell is currently finishing up work on the upcoming thriller The Loft. The film directed by Erik Van Looy is an English language remake of his 2008 Belgian hit film Loft. The remake stars Karl Urban, James Marsden, Eric Stonestreet, Wentworth Miller, Rachael Taylor, Isabel Lucas and Rhona Mitra. The movie follows five married friends who share a loft for their extramarital affairs. When the body of an unknown woman is found in the property, they begin to suspect each other of murder. Wesley Strick (A Nightmare on Elm Street) adapted the script from the original version. Steve Golin (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Babel), Paul Green, Matt DeRoss and Adam Shulman are producing for Anonymous Content, alongside Hilde De Laere who produced the original film and an earlier remake, both of which were scored by Wolfram de Marco. Varese Sarabande Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the Starz action series Spartacus: Vengeance. The album includes selections of the original score from the show composed by Joseph LoDuca, as well as from last year’s prequel series Spartacus: Gods of the Arena on a second disc. The soundtrack will be released on April 3, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Spartacus: Vengeance starring Liam McIntyre, Lucy Lawless, Manu Bennett, Peter Mensah and Katrina Law follows Spartacus and his gladiator rebellion on the heels of the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus as they begin to strike fear into the heart of the Roman Republic. Watertower Music will be releasing the official soundtrack album for Tim Burton’s supernatural comedy drama Dark Shadows. The album features the film’s original score composed by Danny Elfman. The soundtrack will be released on May 8, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for the full album details and audio clips. Dark Shadows based on the classic ABC TV show stars Johnny Depp as the vampire Barnabas Collins who is forced to deal with monsters, ghosts and other supernatural creatures. SoundWorks Collection has published a new video profile on the sound and music of Walt Disney Pictures’ epic fantasy film John Carter directed by Andrew Stanton. The 10-minute video featuring interviews with supervising sound editor Jonathan Null and composer Michael Giacchino and also shows footage from the score’s recording sessions. George S. Clinton to Score ‘Gods Behaving Badly’

George S. Clinton has been hired to score the comedy Gods Behaving Badly. The film marks the directorial debut of Academy Award-nominated producer Marc Turtletaub (Little Miss Sunshine) and follows a young couple who encounter a full panoply of gods living in a New York brownstone. Alicia Silverstone and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are starring in the film alongside Christopher Walken as Zeus, John Turturro as Hades, Sharon Stone as Aphrodite, Oliver Platt as Apollo, Edie Falco as Artemis, Phylicia Rashad as Demeter, Nelsan Ellis as Dionysus, Gideon Glick as Eros, Henry Zebrowski as Hermes and Rosie Perez as Persepho. The comedy is based on a novel by Marie Phillips and has been adapted for the screen by Turtletaub and Josh Goldfaben. Expected to top the other films in release at the box office is the action comedy 21 Jump Street directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and starring Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube, Brie Larson and Ellie Kemper. The film’s score is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh who previously collaborated with the director’s on their animated feature hit Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Opening in limited release is the Spanish-language comedy Casa de mi Padre directed by Matt Piedmont and starring Will Ferrell, Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna, Genesis Rodriguez, Nick Offerman & Pedro Armendariz, Jr. Andrew Feltenstein & John Nau have written the film’s score. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring selections from the score, as well Christina Aguilera’s title song earlier this week. ‘Days of Grace’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the Mexican thriller Days of Grace (Dias de gracia). The album features the film’s music by a number of top composers, including Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, Atticus Ross (The Social Network) and Shigeru Umebayashi (House of Flying Daggers). Also included is a cover version of the classic song Summertime performed by actress Scarlett Johansson and produced and arranged by Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack fame and Tim Goldsworthy. The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 10, 2012. The CD version will be coming out on May 8 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Days of Grace directed by Everardo Gout is set in Mexico City and weaves together three kidnappings that take place during the soccer World Cup tournaments in 2002, ’06 and ’10. The 2002 segment is scored by Cave & Warren, the 2006 segment by Atticus & Leopold Ross and Claudia Sarne (The Book of Eli) and the 2010 segment features music by Umebayashi. ‘The Road We’ve Traveled’ Features Music by Christophe Beck

Christophe Beck has scored the short documentary The Road We’ve Traveled, which premiered online last night. The movie is narrated by Tom Hanks and gives an inside look at the tough calls President Obama made during the last three years. The film features interviews with President Bill Clinton, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Elizabeth Warren, David Axelrod and Austan Goolsbee. The short is directed by Academy Award-winning director Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) who previously worked with Beck on the 2010 documentary Waiting for Superman and a couple of shorts for the Obama campaign in 2008. Mark Mothersbaugh to Score the Lego Movie

Mark Mothersbaugh announced at the SXSW Festival (via The Playlist) that he will be scoring Warner Bros. Pictures’ animated feature film Lego. The movie written and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller will incorporate the latest animation and photo-real techniques. Chris McKay (Robot Chicken) is involved as a co-director and Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes) and Roy Lee (How to Train Your Dragon, The Strangers) are producing. Jill Wilfert is executive producing for the Lego Company and Seanne Winslow is co-producing for Lynn Pictures. No plot details have been revealed yet, but the movie is said to feature both Lego-licensed and original characters. Mothersbaugh has scored the directors’ last two movies, including the animated hit Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and the action comedy 21 Jump Street, which is being released in theaters this weekend and was shown at SXSW.
