Varese Sarabande Records will be releasing the official soundtrack album for Tony Gilroy’s action thriller The Bourne Legacy. The album features the film’s original score composed by the director’s regular musical collaborator James Newton Howard. Also included is a new version of Moby’s song Extreme Ways, which has been featured in the previous three installments in the Bourne series. The soundtrack will be released on July 31, 2012. The full album details are expected to be revealed in a couple of weeks. The label has previously released the soundtracks for The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy, both of which featured music by John Powell. The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, Albert Finney, Scott Glenn and Joan Allen will be released on August 3, 2012 by Universal Pictures. Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez have been tapped to write the original songs for the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures animated feature Frozen. The film directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan, Surf’s Up) takes place in a kingdom trapped in eternal winter and follows the young dreamer Anna who must team up with a daring mountain man, on a journey to find the Snow Queen and put an end to the icy spell. Kristen Bell will lend her voice to Anna’s character while Idina Menzel is voicing the Snow Queen. Peter Del Vecho (The Princess and the Frog) is producing the animated feature. Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the unused soundtrack for the crime thriller 2 Days in the Valley composed by Jerry Goldsmith. The album features over 45 minutes of the composer’s score for the 1996 film directed by John Herzfeld and starring Charlize Theron, James Spader, Teri Hatcher, Danny Aiello, Jeff Daniels, Marsha Mason, Eric Stoltz, Paul Mazursk. Lucas Vidal has signed on to score the upcoming supernatural horror thriller The Quiet Ones. The Hammer Films production is directed by John Pogue (Quarantine 2) and stars Sam Claflin (Snow White and the Huntsman) and Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). The film follows a University professor who uses controversial methods and leads his students to take part in creating a Poltergeist from negative human energy. James Gay-Rees (Senna) and Steven Chester Prince are also producing. The thriller marks Hammer Film’s and producer Simon Oakes’ first film to go into production following this year’s Daniel Radcliffe-starring box office hit The Woman in Black, which has become the highest grossing British horror film of the last 20 years. The project’s screenplay is written by Tom De Ville with revisions by Craig Rosenberg (After the Sunset, The Uninvited), Oren Moverman (The Messsenger, Rampart) and Pogue. The Quiet Ones is set to begin production this month and a release in 2013 is expected.

The details of the soundtrack release for Christopher Nolan’s final chapter in his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer. The soundtrack will be released on July 17, 2012 by WaterTower Music and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Sam Philipps has reunited with Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino to score the new ABC Family drama Bunheads. The show marks Phillips’ first TV scoring assignment since her work on all seven seasons of the critically acclaimed WB series. Bunheads stars Sutton Foster as a Las Vegas showgirl who impulsively marries a man, moves to his sleepy coastal town, and takes an uneasy role at her new mother-in-law’s dance school. Kaitlyn Jenkins, Julia Goldani Telles, Bailey Buntain and Emma Dumont are co-starring and Kelly Bishop (Gilmore Girls) is guest starring. Sherman-Palladino is executive producing the drama and has also directed the pilot episode.

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for Blue Sky Studios’ Ice Age: Continental Drift, the fourth installment in the animated film series. The album features the film’s original score composed by John Powell. The track list reveals that the composer has incorporated themes from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 into a score cue featured on the album. ‘Savages’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for Oliver Stone’s crime drama Savages. The release features six tracks from the film’s original score composed by Adam Peters. Also included are tracks by artists such as Bob Dylan, Peter Tosh, Massive Attack, Electric Light Orchestra, Thievery Corporation, John Taverner and Gustavo Santaolalla. The soundtrack will be released on July 3, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. Savages starring Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Uma Thurman, Emile Hirsch, Demian Bichir, Joel David Moore and John Travolta will be released nationwide on July 6.

Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is Dreamworks Animation’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted directed by Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath & Conrad Vernon and featuring a voice cast including Ben Stiller, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Cedric the Entertainer, Andy Richter, Jessica Chastain, Bryan Cranston and Martin Short. Interscope Records has released a soundtrack album featuring selections from the film’s score composed by Hans Zimmer, as well as the songs featured in the movie by Peter Asher, Yolanda Be Cool and Katy Perry. Also opening wide is one of the most anticipated films of the year, Ridley Scott’s Prometheus starring Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Ben Foster. Marc Streitenfeld has composed the film’s score and Harry Gregson-Williams has provided additional music. Steve Mazzaro is scoring the upcoming action thriller Bullet to the Head. The film is directed by Walter Hill (48 Hrs., Red Heat, Last Man Standing) and stars Sylvester Stallone as a hitman who forms an alliance with a cop to exact revenge on the killer of their respective partners. Sung Kang, Jason Momoa, Sarah Shahi and Christian Slater are co-starring in the movie based on the French graphic novel Du Plomb Dans La Tete written by Alexis Nolent. Joel Silver (Sherlock Holmes, The Matrix), Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (Smallville, Shanghai Noon), Alexandra Milchan (Street Kings) and Kevin King Templeton (The Expendables) are producing the project for Silver’s Dark Castle Entertainment and IM Global.
