Republic Records has released the original song Love Myself from the musical comedy drama The High Note. The track is written by Sarah Aarons & Greg Kurstin, produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins & Tony Hemmings and performed by lead actress Tracee Ellis Ross. The song is now available to stream and download as a digital single on Amazon. The High Note is directed by Nisha Ganatra and stars Dakota Johnson, Ross herself, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Ice Cube, Zoe Chao, Eddie Izzard, Bill Pullman and Diplo.

‘Peter Rabbit’ to Feature Original Songs by Ezra Koenig, Will Gluck & Theodore Shapiro
Vampire Weekend member Ezra Koenig and director Will Gluck have co-written an original song for the new family comedy Peter Rabbit. The track, entitled I Promise You, is featured in three different versions in the movie, including a version performed by James Corden (voice of the film’s lead character) and produced by Greg Kurstin, another one performed by Shana Halligan, Katharine Hoye, Fletcher Sheridan & Chris Mannas and produced by the film’s composer Dominic Lewis (The Man in the High Castle, Money Monster, Free Birds), as well as demo version performed by Koenig himself. Composer Theodore Shapiro (Ghostbusters, The Devil Wears Prada) co-wrote another original song, Small As Your Dreams, with Gluck.

Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Already playing in theaters since Wednesday is the fantasy adventure The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies directed by Peter Jackson and starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, Hugo Weaving and Orlando Bloom. The film’s original music is composed by Howard Shore (The Silence of the Lambs, Hugo) who also scored the previous Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings movies. Also opening wide is the sequel Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais, Dan Stevens, Rebel Wilson and Ben Kingsley. The film’s original music is composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Croods, The Avengers). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music digitally earlier this week. A CD version is set to be released on January 6. ‘Annie’ to Feature Music by Greg Kurstin
Greg Kurstin is composing original music for the upcoming musical comedy drama Annie. The film is directed by Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends with Benefits) and stars Quvenzhané Wallis, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Amanda Troya, Eden Duncan Smith, Nicolette Pierini and Zoe Colletti. The movie is based on the Broadway classic of the same title and is set in the present day in New York. Emma Thompson has penned the screenplay, which was rewritten by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada, We Bought a Zoo) and revised by Gluck. Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith (The Karate Kid, After Earth) are producing the Overbrook Entertainment and Marcy Media production with James Lassiter (I Am Legend, The Pursuit of Happyness), Shawn “JAY Z” Carter, Jay Brown, and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith.
