Relativity Music Group will be releasing a soundtrack album for the indie comedy The Oranges. The album features two tracks from the film’s score composed by Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Time Machine) and Andrew Raiher, as well as the movie’s songs by artists including Treefight For Sunlight, The Submarines, Frazey Ford, Jon Allen, Schuyler Fisk, Zee Avi, The Grand Nationals, Dean Martin, Orba Squara and Derlene Love. The soundtrack will be released on October 2, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from the album are available after the jump. The Oranges is directed by Julian Farino and stars Hugh Laurie, Leighton Meester, Catherine Keener, Adam Brody, Alia Shawkat, Allison Janney and Oliver Platt. The film about a man who begins an affair with the daughter of the family who lives across the street premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by ATO Pictures for a US theatrical release on October 5. Alexandre Desplat’s ‘Reality’ Soundtrack Announced

The details of the soundtrack album for Matteo Garrone’s dark comedy Reality have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score written by Academy Award-nominated composer Alexandre Desplat, as well as the film’s songs performed by Emilia Majello and Franco Ricciardi & Ivan Granatino. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 2, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A physical version is currently only available as an import from Italy. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out after the jump. Reality written and directed by Garrone (Gomorrah) follows a man who dreams of being a contestant on a reality show. The Italian/French co-production premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is set to be released in Italy this weekend and in other European territories over the next couple of weeks. Four new dramas are premiering on the major networks this week:
Premiering on September 27 is the ABC drama Last Resort created by Shawn Ryan & Karl Gajdusek and starring Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman, Robert Patrick, Autumn Reeser, Max Adler, Daisy Betts and Dichen Lachman. The show’s music is composed by Robert Duncan (Castle, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) who has previously scored Ryan’s The Unit, Terriers and The Chicago Code. David Carbonara Scoring the CBS Drama ‘Vegas’

David Carbonara is the composer of the new CBS period drama Vegas. The series is created by Nicholas Pileggi (Goodfellas, Casino) & Greg Walker and stars Dennis Quaid as Sheriff Ralph Lamb and Michael Chiklis as Chicago mobster Vincent Savino. Carrie-Anne Moss, Jason O’Mara and Taylor Handley are co-starring in the show, which is set in 1960s Las Vegas as it begins its rise as a gambling and entertainment mecca. James Mangold (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma) has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing the CBS Television Studios production with his producing partner Cathy Konrad (Scream), Pileggi, Walker and Arthur Sarkissian (Rush Hour trilogy). Stephen Endelman is scoring the new CBS drama Made in Jersey. The legal show is created by Dana Calvo (writer on Covert Affairs and Greek) and stars Janet Montgomery as young working-class woman from New Jersey who uses her street smarts to succeed at a top New York law firm. Kyle MacLachlan, Stephanie March, Toni Trucks, Donna Murphy, Erin Cummings and Kristoffer Polaha are co-starring. Mark Waters (Mean Girls, The Spiderwick Chronicles) has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing the series with Kevin Falls (Franklin & Bash, Journeyman), Jamie Tarses (Happy Endings) and Julia Franz (Men at Work). Steven Price to Score Alfonso Cuaron’s ‘Gravity’

Steven Price has signed on to score Alfonso Cuaron’s highly anticipated sci-fi thriller Gravity. The film stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock as two astronauts who have to fight to survive on a remote space station after satellite debris wipes out the rest of the crew and destroys most of the station. Cuaron has written the movie’s screenplay with his son Jonas and Rodrigo Garcia (Albert Nobbs, Mother and Child) and is also producing the Warner Bros. Pictures and Heydey Films production with David Heyman (Harry Potter series, I Am Legend). The director’s regular cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki is lensing the film. ‘Frankenweenie’ Scoring Sessions

A video from the scoring sessions of Tim Burton’s stop-motion animated film Frankenweenie was published this week and shows footage from the recording sessions in London earlier this year with composer Danny Elfman and Burton in attendance. Check out the video after the jump. Also embedded below is a short interview with the composer about the scoring process, his themes for the film and his collaboration with the director. Frankenweenie features the voices of Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short and Winona Ryder and follows a pet dog who is brought back to life by his loyal owner after it is struck by a car. ‘ThunderCats’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the soundtrack album for the Cartoon Network animated series ThunderCats have been revealed. The 2-CD set features selections of the show’s original music composed by Kevin Kliesch. The composer received an Annie Award nomination this year for his work on the show. The soundtrack will be released on October 16, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. ThunderCats produced by Ethan Spaulding and Michael Jelenic is a reboot of the 1980s series and follows the group of humanoid cats who are forced to roam the planet Third Earth, in order to find a way to defeat an evil sorcerer who plans on taking over the universe. Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the drama Trouble with the Curve directed by Robert Lorenz and starring Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Matthew Lillard and Scott Eastwood. The film’s score is written by Academy Award-nominated composer Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring Beltrami’s score digitally earlier this week. A physical version is scheduled to come out on October 16. Also opening wide is the action thriller End of Watch written and directed by David Ayer and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena, Anna Kendrick, Natalie Martinez, America Ferrera, Frank Grillo, David Harbour and Cody Horn. David Sardy (21, Zombieland, Premium Rush) has composed the film’s score. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as a number of songs from the film including Public Enemy’s new track Harder Than You Think. Lakeshore Records has announced the soundtrack details for the indie drama Smashed. The album features the film’s score composed by Andy Cabic and Eric D. Johnson (Our Idiot Brother, Ceremony), as well as the songs from the movie by artists including Richard and Linda Thompson, Bart Davenport, Omero Guerrero, Cass McCombs, Dark Meat, Sonny & The Sunsets and Smog. Smashed is directed by James Ponsoldt and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Aaron Paul as a married couple whose bond is built on a mutual love of alcohol and whose relationship is put to the test when the wife decides to get sober.
