MovieScore Media’s Screamworks Records has released a soundtrack album for the Australian horror film Bait 3D. The album features the film’s score written by Singaporean composer Joe Ng and Alex Oh. The soundtrack is now available digitally on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Bait 3D is directed by Kimble Rendall and stars Xavier Samuel, Julian McMahon, Sharni Vinson and Phoebe Tonkin. Russell Mulcahy (Highlander, Resident Evil: Extinction) has co-written the screenplay with John Kim and is also executive producing the film. Todd Fellman (Daybreakers), Gary Hamilton and Peter Barbers are also producing the project. Andy Williams passed away Tuesday at his Branson, Mo., home at age 84 after suffering from bladder cancer. The American singer performed numerous songs for movies and collaborated with a number of film composers. Among his biggest hits was the Academy Award-winning song Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which was written by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer. Williams also collaborated with Mancini on such films as Blake Edward’s 1962’s drama Days of Wine and Roses starring Jack Lemmon and 1964’s comedy Dear Heart starring Glenn Ford. The singer also performed the classic song Where Do I Begin? from Love Story with music by Francis Lai and lyrics by Carl Sigman. Read the rest of this entry »
Ólafur Arnalds Scoring ‘Gimme Shelter’

Ólafur Arnalds has recently recorded his score for the indie drama Gimme Shelter. The movie marks the directorial debut of video and commercials helmer Ron Krauss and stars Vanessa Hudgens as a pregnant, homeless teen who flees her abusive mother and moves to a shelter where she forms a family unit with other girls. Rosario Dawson, James Earl Jones, Ann Dowd, Stephanie Szostak and Brendan Fraser are co-starring. Krauss has also written the screenplay and is producing the film with Jeff Rice (The Watcher) and Joshua Amir. The Icelandic composer’s previous film credits include Another Happy Day starring Ellen Barkin, Ezra Miller and Ellen Burstyn. Scott’s Pictures has recently picked up worldwide rights for Gimme Shelter. No release date has been announced yet.
Expanded ‘Black Rain’ Soundtrack Announced

La-La Land Records has announced an expanded and remastered soundtrack release for Ridley Scott’s 1989 action thriller Black Rain starring Michael Douglas, Andy Garcia and Ken Takakura. The 2-CD set features the film’s original score composed by Hans Zimmer on one disc and the original 1989 album (which includes such songs as I’ll Be Holding On performed Gregg Allman, Livin’ on the Edge of the Night by Iggy Pop and The Way You Do the Things You Do by UB 40), as well as a number of bonus tracks on the second disc. ‘My Uncle Rafael’ Soundtrack Details

La-La Land Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the indie comedy My Uncle Rafael. The album features the film’s original music composed and arranged by Joey Newman (The Middle) and Chris Westlake (Transit). Also included are two original songs written for the film, Keep It Move’n performed by Moybrothaz and Rafael performed by Smith & Pyle (Shawnee Smith & Missi Pyle). ‘Magic City’ Score Album Details

Silva Screen Records has announced the details of the score album for the Starz original series Magic City. The album features selections from the score of the first season of the series composed by Daniele Luppi (Assassination of a High School President, Hellride). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 2, 2012. Audio clips will be added to this article within the next week. As previously reported, the label has also released a soundtrack featuring the songs from the drama. Magic City created by Mitch Glazer and starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olga Kurylenko, Jessica Marais and Steven Strait premiered this spring on Starz and has already been renewed for a second season to air in early 2013. Anton Sanko to Score ‘Jessabelle’

Anton Sanko has been hired to score the upcoming horror film Jessabelle. The film is directed by Kevin Greutert (Saw VI, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter) and stars Sarah Snook as a woman who is forced to return to her father’s home in Louisiana when a car accident leaves her without the use of her legs and she discovers the mysteries of her own birth and must confront a ghost. Mark Webber, David Andrews and Joelle Carter are co-starring. Robert Ben Garant (A Night at the Museum, The Pacifier) has written the film’s script and Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) is producing the project. The movie marks Sanko’s fourth feature for Lionsgate following Rabbit Hole, The Possession (which is currently playing in theaters) and the upcoming Nurse 3-D. Jessabelle is expected to be released in 2013.
‘How I Met Your Mother’ Soundtrack Released

20th Century Fox TV Records has released the first soundtrack album for the long-running hit comedy How I Met Your Mother. The album features the songs from the show performed by the show’s cast members Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Josh Radnor and Cobie Smulders, including the Emmy-nominated track Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit. Also featured is the comedy’s main title theme Hey Beautiful by The Solids. The soundtrack album, which is entitled How I Met Your Music, is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips from all 20 tracks on the release. Michael Andrews Scoring Fox’s ‘Ben and Kate’

Michael Andrews is scoring the new FOX comedy Ben and Kate. The show is created by Dana Fox (What Happens in Vegas, Couples Retreat) and stars Nat Faxon, Dakota Johnson, Lucy Punch, Maggie Elizabeth Jones, Echo Kellum. The series follows a pair of odd-couple siblings and their friends as they push each other out of their comfort zones and into real life. Fox is executive producing the 20th Century Fox Television production with Peter Chernin (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Katherine Pope (Terra Nova). The trio is also executive producing the Fox hit show New Girl, for which Andrews co-wrote the title song. Jake Kasdan who has previously collaborated with the composer several times, including on the hit features Bad Teacher and Orange County and the TV show Freaks and Geeks, has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing.
