Zbigniew Preisner has been hired to score the upcoming drama The Green Blade Rises. The film marks the directorial debut of AJ Edwards who worked with Terrence Malick on his past three films and was the editor on his most recent feature To The Wonder. The Green Blade Rises starring Wes Bentley, Brit Marling, Diane Kruger and Jason Clarke follows Abraham Lincoln’s formative years, including abandonment by his father in the harsh winter wilderness, the tragedy that marked him forever and the two women who guided him to immortality, putting him on the path to becoming one of the most influential Presidents in United States history. The details of the soundtrack album for the sci-fi film Cloud Atlas have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil. The soundtrack will be released on October 23, 2012 by WaterTower Music and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Cloud Atlas is directed by Tykwer and Andy & Lana Wachowski and stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Hotel Transylvania directed by Genndy Tartakov and featuring the voice talent of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade, CeeLo Green and Jon Lovitz. The film’s music is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh who previously scored Sony Pictures Animation’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The film’s original song Problem performed by Becky G feat. will.i.am is now available to download on iTunes. No full soundtrack album has been announced yet. Also opening wide is the sci-fi thriller Looper directed by Rian Johnson and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Jeff Daniels, Noah Segan and Piper Perabo. The film’s score is composed by Nathan Johnson who previously worked with the director on Brick and The Brothers Bloom. Cut Narrative has released the soundtrack album digitally and limited edition CD version featuring music not included on the digital release is available on La-La Land Records. Atlantic Records to Release Soundtrack and Score Album for ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2’

Atlantic Records will release two different soundtrack albums for the final installment in the Twilight series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. Scheduled for a release on November 13, 2012 is a soundtrack featuring the songs from and inspired by the film. To pre-order the album, visit Amazon. Also coming out on the same day is a score release featuring the music composed by Carter Burwell who has scored his third film in the series following Catherine Hardwicke’s first Twilight installment and last year’s Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Robert Kraft to Exit Fox Music

Robert Kraft is leaving Fox Music after 18 years with the studio. He joined Fox Music in 1994 as chief executive and became president in 1998. He has overseen and the music for all Fox films during that time including the scores and soundtracks for such hit films as Titanic, Avatar, Moulin Rouge!, Slumdog Millionaire, Black Swan and Walk the Line. He also supervised the music for Fox Television productions, including such hit shows as The X-Files, 24, Ally McBeal and The Simpsons. Kraft has also produced and written numerous songs for film and was Academy Award-, Golden Globe- and Grammy-nominated for co-writing the song Beautiful Maria of My Soul with Arne Glimcher for 1992’s The Mambo Kings. ‘Fringe’ Season 4 Soundtrack Details

Deborah Lurie to Score Lasse Hallstrom’s ‘Safe Haven’

Deborah Lurie is reuniting with director Lasse Hallstrom on the upcoming romance Safe Haven. The film is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook) and stars Josh Duhamel, Julianne Hough, David Lyons, Cobie Smulders and Noah Lomax. The movie centers on a young woman who struggles to find love again after she arrives in a small town in North Carolina, where her reluctance to join the community raises questions about her past. Dana Stevens (City of Angels, For the Love of the Game) and Les Bohem (Dante’s Peak) have written the screenplay and Relativity Media CEO Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter) and Temple Hill Entertainment’s Marty Bowen (Dear John) and Wyck Godfrey (Twilight series, I, Robot) are producing the project alongside Sparks. The film marks Lurie’s third film for the director following An Unfinished Life starring Robert Redford and the 2010 hit drama Dear John starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried, which was also based on a novel written by Sparks. ‘In the House’ Soundtrack Details

Cristal Publishing will release a soundtrack album for Francois Ozon’s French thriller In the House (Dans la maison). The album features the film’s original score by the director’s regular musical collaborator Philippe Rombi (Swimming Pool, Potiche, Angel). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 8, 2012 in France. Click here to listen to audio clips from the score. No word yet on a domestic release of the soundtrack, but check back on this site for updates. In the House is written and directed by Ozon and stars Fabrice Luchini, Ernst Umhauer, Kristin Scott Thomas, Emmanuelle Seigner and Denis Menochet. The movie follows a professor and a student who comes to threaten the relationships of those around them. The film recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by Cohen Media Group for domestic distribution. A soundtrack album for Alain Resnais’ drama You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet (Vous n’avez encore rien vu) has been released overseas earlier this week. The album features the film’s original score written by Emmy-nominated composer Mark Snow (The X-Files, Smallville). To listen to audio clips, visit the French Amazon store. You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet marks Snow’s third collaboration with Resnais following Provate Fears in Public Places and Wild Grass. The French/German production stars Mathieu Amalric, Sabine Azéma, Anne Consigny and Lambert Wilson. The film follows a celebrated playwright who gathers together all his friends who have appeared over the years in his play Eurydice to watch a recording of the work performed by a young acting company. Tony Morales has been tapped to score the supernatural romance In Your Eyes. The film is directed by Brin Hill (screenwriter of Won’t Back Down) and written by The Avengers director Joss Whedon. The movie stars Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield) and Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks) as two people who live on opposite sides of the country, but are able to experience what the other is experiencing, despite being strangers. Mark Feuerstein, Jennifer Grey and Nikki Reed are co-starring. Whedon is producing the Bellwether Pictures production with Kai Cole (Much Ado About Nothing).
