Deborah Lurie has recently recorded her score for the upcoming comedic thriller Murder of a Cat. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Gillian Greene and stars Fran Kranz, Nikki Reed, J.K. Simmons and Greg Kinnear. The movie follows a young man who discovers his dead cat was leading a double life with another owner. Christian Magalhaes & Robert Snow (New Girl) have written the Black List-honored screenplay. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Oz the Great and Powerful) is producing the project. ‘Non-Stop’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the thriller Non-Stop. The album features the film’s original score composed by John Ottman (The Usual Suspects, X2, The Fantastic Four) who previously collaborated with the movie’s director Jaume Collet-Serra on Unknown, Orphan and House of Wax. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 25, 2014 and physically on March 4 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Non-Stop is produced by Joel Silver and stars Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Anson Mount, Michellle Dockery and Corey Stoll. The movie is set during a transatlantic flight from New York City to London and follows a U.S. Air Marshal who receives a series of text messages demanding that he instruct the government to transfer $150 million into an off-shore account. Max Richter has signed on to score the upcoming HBO original series The Leftovers. The show is created by Damon Lindelof (Lost, Prometheus, Star Trek) and Tom Perrotta (Little Children, Election) and stars Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler and Ann Dowd. The series is based on Perotta’s book of the same title and takes place in the wake of a global “Rapture” and centers on the people who didn’t make the cut and are left behind in a suburban community. Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Lone Survivor) has directed the pilot episode. Lindelof, Perotta and Berg are also executive producing the Warner Bros. ‘Gimme Shelter’ Soundtrack Released

Milan Records has released the official soundtrack album for the indie drama Gimme Shelter. The album features the film’s original score composed by Olafur Arnalds (Broadchurch, Another Happy Day). Also included is the song A Mother’s Prayer by Celine Dion. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips are embedded after the jump. Gimme Shelter is written and directed by Ron Krauss and stars Vanessa Hudgens, Rosario Dawson, Brendan Fraser, James Earl Jones, Ann Dowd and Dascha Polanco. The film tells the true story of Agnes “Apple” Bailey and her path to motherhood as a pregnant, homeless teenager. The movie was released in theaters last month by Roadside Attractions/Lionsgate. ‘Son of God’ Soundtrack Details

Republic Records will release a soundtrack album for the biblical drama Son of God. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe. Also included are four songs by Cee Lo Green, Steven Stern & George Krikes, OneRepublic and Hillsong United. The soundtrack will be released on February 25, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. As previously reported, Word Entertainment has released a separate soundtrack featuring music inspired by the film. Son of God produced by Mark Burnett & Roma Downey is based on the History Channel’s mini-series The Bible, which premiered last year. The movie is set to be released nationwide on February 28, 2014 by 20th Century Fox.

Patrick Doyle has been tapped to score DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations. The film is directed by Tony Leondis and features a voice cast including Seth Rogen, Melissa McCarthy, Bill Murray, Rashida Jones, Jennifer Coolidge, Octavia Spencer and Matt Bomer. The movie follows two bumbling apparitions who find themselves in an extraordinary after-life adventure when they join the Bureau of Otherworldly Operations (B.O.O.), the ghost world’s elite counter-haunting unit. Pharrell Williams to Perform ‘Despicable Me 2’ Song on the Oscars

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has announced today that Pharrell Williams will be performing his original song Happy from the animated hit film Despicable Me 2 at this year’s Oscars show, which will air on March 2. Williams is nominated for the first time in the Best Original Song category. The other nominated songs include Ordinary Love from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Let It Go from Frozen and The Moon Song from Her. Despicable Me 2 is also nominated in the Best Animated Feature category. The soundtrack for the film, which also includes more songs by Pharrell and the score by Heitor Pereira is available on Back Lot Music.
Bill Conti’s ‘Necessary Roughness’ Score Released

Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1991 sports comedy Necessary Roughness directed by Stan Dragoti and starring Scott Bakula, Robert Loggia, Sinbad and Hector Elizondo. ATP Records will release a soundtrack album for Jim Jarmusch’s indie drama Only Lovers Left Alive. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jozef Van Wissem & SQÜRL. Also included is the song Hal by Yasmine Hamdan. The movie’s music was honored with the 2013 Cannes Soundtrack Award.
