the-neon-demonGaumont and Wild Bunch announced today that Cliff Martinez will reunite with director Nicolas Winding Refn on the upcoming horror thriller The Neon Demon. No plot details have been announced yet, but the film is described as a horror tale with a young female-led cast, which will be revealed later this year. Refn and Mary Laws are writing the screenplay. Lene Borglum (Valhalla Rising, Only God Forgives) is producing the project through Refn’s production company Space Rocket. Also on board are editor Matthew Newman (Bronson, Drive) and Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Philippe Le Sourd (The GrandmasterSeven PoundsA Good Year). Martinez has previously scored Refn’s two previous features Drive and Only God ForgivesThe Neon Demon is set to begin shooting in the first quarter of 2015 in Los Angeles and is expected to be released in 2016
Martinez’s upcoming projects also include Cary Fukunaga’s Beasts of No Nation starring Idris Elba, as well as the second season of Steven Soderbergh’s Cinemax series The Knick.
