Gabriel Yared has been hired to score the upcoming romantic drama By the Sea. The film marks the third directorial feature of Angelina Jolie who also stars in the movie alongside Brad Pitt, Mélanie Laurent, Niels Arestrup, Melvil Poupaud and Richard Bohringer. The drama follows an American writer who arrives with his wife a tranquil and picturesque seaside resort in 1970s France with their marriage in apparent crisis. ‘Preservation’ Soundtrack Announced

A soundtrack album will be released for the horror thriller Preservation. The album features the film’s original music composed by Alexis & Sam (We’ll Never Have Paris, Lila & Eve). Howard Shore to Headline Cordoba International Film Music Festival

The International Film Music Festival of the Province of Córdoba has announced the lineup for their 11th edition, which will take place from July 19 to 26, 2015 in Córdoba, Spain. Academy Award winner Howard Shore will be the special guest of the festival, which will feature two nights of composer’s music, including a concert featuring Shore’s score from The Lord of the Rings trilogy and a career retrospective featuring music from the composer’s long-standing collaborations with directors Martin Scorsese (Hugo, The Aviator, The Departed) and David Cronenberg (The Fly, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises). In addition, Emmy Award-winner Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Marvel’s Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Da Vinci’s Demons) will receive the third annual Elmer Bernstein Award. Disney announced today that composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater will be composing new songs for the upcoming animated series Tangled based on the 2010 hit movie of the same title. Kevin Kliesch is set to compose the original score for the show, which will feature the voices of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi who are reprising their roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. The series is set between the feature film and the 2012 short film Tangled Ever After and unfolds as Rapunzel acquaints herself with her parents, her kingdom and the people of Corona. Patrick Doyle to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at World Soundtrack Awards

Patrick Doyle has been selected as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award at the closing-night gala of the 15th World Soundtrack Awards at the Ghent Film Fest on October 24, 2015. The composer is known for his various collaborations on films directed by Kenneth Branagh, including Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Thor, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and this year’s Cinderella. He received two Academy Award nominations for his music for Branagh’s Hamlet and Ang Lee’s Sense and Sensibility. His other film scoring credits include Pixar’s Brave, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Nanny McPhee, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Alfonso Cuaron’s Great Expectations, Robert Altman’s Gosford Park, Mike Newell’s Donnie Brasco and Brian DePalma’s Carlito’s Way.
