Marco Beltrami revealed in a recent interview with Film Score Monthly Online that he is scoring the upcoming Netflix original movie First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers. The film directed by Angelina Jolie is based on the non-fiction book by Loung Ung, a Cambodian author and survivor of the Pol Pot regime, and tells the story of her experiences and the horrors she suffered under the rule of the deadly Khmer Rougee. Jolie is also producing the project with Rithy Panh (The Missing Picture).

Back Lot Music will release the official soundtrack album for Angelina Jolie’s drama By the Sea. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain, 1408) who previously scored Jolie’s In the Land of Blood and Honey. Also included are the songs featured in the movie by artists including Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Dutronc, Jane Birkin, Chantal Goya & more. The soundtrack will be released on November 13, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Gabriel Yared has been hired to score the upcoming romantic drama By the Sea. The film marks the third directorial feature of Angelina Jolie who also stars in the movie alongside Brad Pitt, Mélanie Laurent, Niels Arestrup, Melvil Poupaud and Richard Bohringer. The drama follows an American writer who arrives with his wife a tranquil and picturesque seaside resort in 1970s France with their marriage in apparent crisis. Jolie also wrote the screenplay and is producing the project with Pitt. Chris Brigham, Holly Goline and Michael Vieira are executive producing.

Alexandre Desplat has been tapped to score the upcoming World War II drama Unbroken. The film marks the second directorial effort of Angelina Jolie and stars Jack O’Connell, Garrett Hedlund, Domhnall Gleeson, Jai Courtney and Finn Wittrock. The movie is based on the book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hildebrand and tells the true story of Lou Zamperini who was a Los Angeles high school track star who raced in the 1936 Berlin Olympics and whose Air Force plane crashed in the Pacific in 1943, where he survived 47 days without food and water. Joel & Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, Fargo) have written the screenplay with Richard LaGravenese (The Horse Whisperer, The Fisher King) and William Nicholson (Gladiator, Les Miserables).

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack for Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey. The album includes three tracks from the score by Academy Award-winning composer Gabriel Yared, as well as Miss Sarajevo by the U2 side project Passengers featuring Luciano Pavarotti, the song When My Heart Dies composed by Yared and performed by Natasa Mirkovic-De Ro and a selection of Balkan songs from the movie. The soundtrack will be released on January 10, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. In the Land of Blood and Honey is set during the civil war in the former-Yugoslavia in the early 90s and tells the love story between a Serbian man and Bosnian woman who meet on the eve of the war and the effect the crisis has on their relationship.

The movie will reportedly also feature additional music by Dado Dzihan (Dado Jehan) as Waves and Patterns. The project is produced by GK Films (The Tourist, The Town).
